Space Symposium week, wrapped ✨
From the HydRON Element 3 signing with @europeanspaceagency , @canadianspaceagency and our partners, to a great @spacenewsinc panel discussion with our CEO Mina Mitry and key speakers from government and industry, this week highlighted the joint efforts helping advance a more interoperable, resilient #optical infrastructure for real-time data transport in space.
Shoutout to our Kepler team for the great work that made this possible. Thank you to everyone who connected with us and joined the conversation along the way!

This week at Space Symposium, Kepler signed as prime contractor for @europeanspaceagency ESA HydRON Element 3, in collaboration with ESA and the @canadianspaceagency to advance interoperable optical infrastructure for real-time data transport in space. 🛰️
Kepler will deliver a cooperative hosted-payload mission on its Tranche-2 satellite platform, bringing together multiple European optical communication terminal providers to demonstrate interoperability and in-space #optical data relay operations, including: • Vyoma GmbH, providing a space situational awareness hosted payload
• TESAT, providing optical communication terminal hardware
• Mbryonics Ltd, providing optical communication terminal hardware
• Astrolight UAB, providing optical communication terminal hardware

The first-ever thermal livestream of Earth 🚀
Yesterday, we launched four of our SAFIRE Gen4 sensor payloads aboard @keplercomms ’s next-generation satellites.
With this project, we are going to bring our infrared data from orbit to the ground in real time! By combining our thermal intelligence with @keplercomms ’s low-latency optical communications, thermal data will be routed across the constellation and downlinked with dramatically reduced latency.
🚨 Integrated with Kepler satellites, our latest Gen4 sensors deliver the fastest thermal anomaly detection available.
Using Mina Mitry’s words, @keplercomms CEO and co-founder: “This partnership demonstrates how the industry can break new ground and deliver on the promise of real-time access to data.”
🌎️ We are taking a major step toward live environmental intelligence from space, and we’ll soon be ready to deliver the world’s first thermal livestream of Earth.
As our CEO Martin Langer, puts it, “We are setting the foundation for a new category of real-time intelligence from space.”

Today marks a major milestone: the launch of the first commercially operational optical data relay network! Kepler is proud to announce that our ten 300-kg class satellites, equipped with high-capacity SDA-compatible optical terminals and multi-GPU on-orbit compute modules, are now officially deployed in orbit after a successful launch onboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

Optical technology for your mission is here! We’re thrilled to announce the January launch of Kepler’s initial tranche of next-generation optical data relay satellites! 💫
This mission is designed to provide real-time connectivity, advanced on-orbit computing, and hosted payload capabilities to government and commercial partners worldwide. It builds on the success of our Pathfinder missions with the Space Development Agency and other industry partners.

Our CEO Mina Mitry is smiling ear to ear – and so are we! Last week, we had the honor of hosting our new advisor, astronaut Chris Hadfield at our Toronto office!
Chris reminded us that great leadership is about preparation, teamwork, and staying calm under pressure. Whether you’re in orbit or solving tough problems on Earth, his stories inspired us to be curious, think big, make a plan, and to always stay “mission ready.”
We look forward to the insight, experience, and leadership Chris will continue bringing to our team!

At Kepler, we’re proud to share another step forward in advancing optical communications.
In partnership with Space Development Agency and @generalatomics , a Kepler satellite recently enabled the successful demonstration of space-to-air optical communications — showing that a moving aircraft can securely exchange data with a satellite in orbit.
This achievement builds on Kepler’s growing portfolio of optical demonstrations:
🔹 Optical inter-satellite links (OISLs) connecting spacecraft in orbit
🔹 Bi-directional space-to-ground optical communications
🔹 Now, air-to-space communications linking satellites with moving aircraft
Together, these proven capabilities show how Kepler is bridging space, air, and ground domains with secure, high-capacity connectivity. Resilient, multi-domain networks are not just critical to national security and defense operations — they are also the foundation for the future space economy.
And we're just getting started. Our first Tranche of satellites are being tested and prepared for launch, bringing greater capacity and capability to government, defense, and commercial missions worldwide.

Canada has the talent and ambition to lead in space — but modern approaches are needed to compete.
As part of the Build Canada initiative, our CEO Mina Mitry has led the development of a new memo outlining how procurement and regulatory modernization can help Canada rebuild competitiveness in the space sector.
The memo offers practical, actionable recommendations to: 🚀 Enable scaling of Canadian space companies with proven capabilities 📈 Improve access to procurement for agile, innovative companies 🛰️ Build and retain sovereign space capabilities
Canada is at a pivotal moment. With the right policy tools, we can unlock the full potential of our space ecosystem and position Canadian companies to lead on the global stage.
