Def an honor to embody arguably the greatest mf producer of all time and one of my personal favorites @quincyjones I’ve always been obsessed with Big Band Jazz as my favorite and of course everyone he’s touched from Ray Charles to Duke Ellington, Color Purple to E.T. and Fresh Prince and of course all of the work he did with the greatest performer Michael Jackson on 3 of the most iconic and pervasive albums ever created “Off the Wall”, “Thriller” and “Bad”.
And that’s not even scratching the surface! He told me in person when I first met him that he produced the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony!!! 👀👀
The man had a double aneurism in 1973 before any of those albums were a thought. He just had his 91st birthday a week ago. I can go into his life in depth and be here all day and night but hopefully my performance will be enough to show how honored I am to be in this experience.
He was very outspoken against Injustices within the industry and speaks a lot on health and philosophy. And we bof Pisces 😎😂🎏
Encouragement for this who are struggling post strike like me: when I got the call from @loveleigh1 🖤🖤 I was literally ready to go and publicly quit this industry and this city. It’s been one of the roughest years for me and it’s still rough honestly and I know it has been even tougher for so many of my colleagues and loved ones.
Just know that this experience has directly and indirectly given me fuel and a lil bit of resources to continue the collective fight for us all to eat and be healthy and our labor respected and liberated.
And thank you @loveleigh1 and of course Vicky Thomas (who originally cast me in Insecure) for seeing it in me and of course @gkfilms . Thanks @jenokie for capturing the moment of me and @quincyjones (swipe through to see) AND THE @antoinefuqua for leading the ship and the crew who is working so hard.
I was working on this on my birthday (a great gift) til the wee hours of the morning. Hope to see summa y’all this weekend as I finally get to celebrate a lih’ bit 😂🖤🕺🏽🪩
Texas! It’s almost time to ROLL TO THE POLLS again, this time for the Runoff election. Don’t let them politicians run off with our taxes 👀 this is your chance to decide which candidates advance from the primary to the general. After the nonsense that went down on March 3rd, with Black and Brown voters turned away from polling sites, it’s more important than ever that we let shady politicians know we won’t let ‘em steal these votes behind our backs.
Check out our explainer on what a Runoff is and what races are in play. Tell your homies, your neighbors, your whole family it’s time to let them politicians know how you really feel! We build more power every election we pull up to 💪🏾

#MothersDay
A word on Mother’s Day from our wise fam @cassiedamsel
Do you even know the history of Mother’s Day? Mother’s Day started off as a movement of collective action and then of course commercialism got to it and watered it down always interested how things begin and then how we get distracted. Mothers were seen as the emotional architect of society who lead movements…. happy Mother’s Day to all those who contribute to families.
Intergenerational healing through community healing and the necessary conversations.🙏🏾
Engaging in this dialogue is difficult, yet necessary to move us towards Black Liberation.
In ATL, at Morehouse College during the Black Men Trust Black Women Roundtable Screening/Live Panel featuring some of our cast, we recognized that the viral moment between Clifton and Joseph didn’t just make a wave online; it also moved us through a liberating truth: we can have these tough conversations as a culture and come out stronger on the other side.
That’s the impact of this roundtable. The impact that landed us as Finalists for Brand Awareness Campaign and Long Form Video at the @shortyawards 🏆
We’re less than two weeks away from the Shorty Awards. 🙌🏾 But the conversation continues, and the practice begins. Black Liberation won’t be achieved by just conversations alone. We need ALL OF US to walk it like we talk it and practice these conversations in our homes and communities.🫵🏾
🔗⬆️ Head to SisterSong’s YouTube Channel to watch the full roundtable, and our Atlanta/Louisville Live Panel + Audience Q&A featuring the cast!🙌🏾

🤣🤣🤣🤣 my ppl gon pump my head tf up way toooo much and it ain’t because of the compliments — it’s seeing my people people, my fam, my siblings, my loved ones, my chosen fam from LA state to Texas to the city of L.A. all the way down to the people I fight in the streets with FOR my people — seeing them able to shed the heavy stress of 2026 off and get together IN PERSON and use our culture: the story, dance, sing eat laugh cry and have a good ass time in THESE terrible TIMES?!?! My heart is full 🖤❤️🔥🖤❤️🔥🖤❤️🔥
Thank you @docmellymel@blmlosangeles for getting the fam together in LA + @la_studentsdeserve@whoallgonbetherecomedy and of course @bldpwr off Crenshaw to get grounded and feel good. Nothing fills my heart more than to give a good boost, energy, power, joy to my people right now - let’s take that energy and do what we do best — build together, protect each other and get what we need to be the freest, healthiest and most powerful we can possibly be. ✊🏽🖤❤️🔥
