Artist-architect Joar Nango and filmmaker Ken Are Bongo present an episode of their ongoing series 𝘗𝘰𝘴𝘵-𝘊𝘢𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘈𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦-𝘛𝘝, investigating Indigenous architecture, land-based knowledge, and the politics of space through Sámi experiences. The 270-degree installation spans 13 screens in a circular formation, combining performance, unscripted conversation, and landscape to explore nomadism, land rights, and questions of being ‘rooted.’
Nango, a Sámi artist working across sculpture, performance, and architecture, engages communities to produce collaborative knowledge; his work has featured at documenta 14, the Chicago Architecture Biennial, and the Venice Architecture Biennale. Bongo, a Sámi filmmaker and cinematographer, specialises in Indigenous storytelling and Arctic landscapes, with projects including the Cannes-awarded series 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘺 (2024) and Netflix feature 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘯 (2024).
Together, they create an immersive, multi-perspective work that blends research, improvisation, and lived experience to propose alternatives to conventional frameworks of urbanism and design.
