Free family portrait day produced by my Marketing Apprenticeship team, a lovely cyanotype workshop @webersgreenhouse and a teen led zine workshop by our leadership apprentices at @escuelaverde
Really lovely to spend the day with all these talented young folks. 🌱📸 🫶
Exploring portraiture in the studio has been a super fruitful intro to photo these last bunch of years as our apprentices start to learn about composition and framing, mobile photography, basic functions of about 7 old as hell canon dslrs, said with love and respect, the exposure triangle, and directing and posing a subject, which makes collaboration and comfortability behind the camera a lot smoother once we start offering portrait sessions more publicly in the coming weeks and months.
I think when I was learning about photography in high school and college a lot of it was very solitary. I’m glad we have this little community where we’re instructing while shooting with our friends and peers and other artists in mke.
This spring we’ll move into our video unit, and social media marketing for their own channels, culminating in the third annual tgg gallery night, all while producing the stories you see over on the @teensgrowgreens channel 🌱📸🫶
All that to say been super rewarding and eye opening to work with young folks who are excited to be digital media artists for the last 5 years. More to come!
Staff Spotlight ✨ Marketing Apprenticeship Educator
Kelly Anderson ✨
@kellymichaelanderson has worked with TGG since 2019 as a freelance videographer and photographer and joined the staff full-time in 2022, creating TGG’s 4th apprenticeship program, the Marketing Apprenticeship, with Marketing Coordinator @shot_by_bree16 as his first apprentice!
With a background in media production and marketing in MKE, including working for @colectivocoffee and as a freelancer, Kelly brings strong storytelling experience to TGG. A photographer and filmmaker since graduating from UWM’s film program in 2010, he now leads our Marketing Apprentices as they help tell the many stories of TGG.
“I work for TGG because they’re one of the most inspiring organizations I’ve worked with in my over 20 years in MKE. There is truly a sense of admiration and respect between Teens and staff at TGG and I can’t think of a better foundation for education and introduction into the workforce.”
