I was fortunate enough to document The Trail Home again this year. The Trail Home is an annual fundraiser organized by The Center in Hollywood. The Center is a non profit organization whose purpose is to end homelessness and isolation in Hollywood and the Greater Los Angeles area.

Romance in spaces that feel other worldly… I’m here for all of it.
If you live in the greater Los Angeles area, you probably recognize this lovely venue. This is Pasadena City Hall and it is not a secret gem. It’s a gem, but it is highly sought after and it is flooded with people at all hours of the day - every day. Tourists, patrons, employees, and people like us utilizing the space for photos.
There was probably 100+ people circulating around the grounds while I was photographing this gorgeous couple.
In high demand venues, my job as a photographer is multifaceted. I must navigate the space, show respect to people around me, work with other photographers to share desirable areas… all while maintaining an enjoyable experience for my couple. I want my couples to leave me after a session on a high… thinking about how much fun they had on their drive home together… excited to see what images will drop in their gallery.
And when I get home, the next part of my job is a hurdle. 1.5 hours of a session with a gorgeous couple floods into my computer. I upload, cull, cull again and then I cull once more. I then meticulously edit each image to make sure my couples look their absolute best and to make the surroundings look the way I think they should.
With this particular session I chose to eliminate all the visual noise, including people. There were other weddings, quinceañeras, engagement sessions and also just visitors roaming around in shorts and t-shirts. I wanted Nicole and Nico to look at their gallery and feel like they were transported to somewhere in Europe on a cool spring day rather than think about the actual chaos that was buzzing around us that afternoon.
Their gallery is stunning and Nicole reached out immediately to let me know they are “obsessed” with their images. So am I 🔥🔥🔥

The Getty Center is a place I fell in love with in my teens. I still remember my first visit each time I go back. And I go back over and over again. It inspires me, it soothes my soul and eases my mind - it grounds me.
I’m not sure if it’s the mesmerizing architecture, the panoramic views of the city I hold so close in my heart, the extraordinary landscape, the energy of the visitors buzzing around in awe… I just find a different version of myself here each time and it allows me space to celebrate those old versions.
This past summer, I accompanied a beautiful couple on a helicopter tour from Long Beach into Los Angeles and on to Catalina Island where they would become engaged. We flew over the Getty briefly and I was in a puddle. This magnificent place will always hold a piece of me.
