when it comes to choreography, i can be a bit of a control freak. i hate coming in without a full plan of what i’m going to do bc i feel like the outcome is not going to be something i like. every piece i had made before this one had an almost completely fleshed out plan from start to finish before i even stepped on campus for the semester. with this one, i had no idea what i was going to do. i literally had one phrase and that was it. however, i feel like because i was doing it as i go this time around as opposed to trying to make things fit into my mold, the dance became something i could not have ever imagined. i think this was the least confident i’ve ever felt going into an idea, but the most confident i’ve ever felt finishing one. it was exactly the type of piece i’ve always wanted to make but was scared to do and i am just so thankful for the dancers and their diligence, hard work, and commitment to sticking through all of the confusion and craziness. to each of you, i am so so sooooooo proud of each of you and i cannot wait to see it come to fruition once again :)
finally bringing back piece sneak peeks and so happy to be able to :,)
started this process with a DREAM cast this past thursday and can’t wait to see where it goes!!
post rehearsal wiggles! haven’t been in a studio alone since maybe january and it was definitely needed. i still miss home a lot (hence the song choice lol) but dancing and being around dancers always makes me feel home anywhere i am.
tried to just feel the music out for this so it’s lowkey not my best but i still like it hehe
when i tell you every part of my body hurts in the aftermath of this class… so worth it
forever thankful to my friends for introducing me to this studio space and all the wonderful, supportive people that come with it,, you have fostered my growth and confidence in ways i didn’t imagine possible <33
thankful to @_ryanflo_ for this killer class! thank you for gracing rva with your skills and wisdom:)
music: on my body by @tyla
sappy and dramatic caption incoming‼️
been in such a weird place lately where my love for this art form is higher than it’s ever been but my self esteem is lower than it’s ever been. i cannot explain how much being in a room of passionate and excited young dancers made me feel alive! i’m so grateful that i can call this my profession.
choreo by me :)
dancing w @anayaascarlett <3
wasn’t gonna post this bc this was the first dance class i’ve taken in almost 4 months and it’s just not my best but also who cares lol,, only showing the first half though hehe
overall goal is to be more wavey and allow my body to finish moves before i keep going
