✨ ARTIST FEATURE: Kellette Elliott ✨ Kellette Elliott (@kelletteworks ) didn’t set out to become a collage artist; her students led her there. As a high school art teacher devoted to clean lines and negative space, she once resisted collage entirely. But after committing to making art every day alongside her students, everything changed. On day 146, she had a revelation: collage doesn't need to fill the page to tell a story. Minimal imagery could speak just as powerfully. She hasn’t stopped since. Now over 1,200 collages later, with some fantastic techniques to show for it. Her now-signature transfer techniques were built through years of experimentation. What once took hours of uncertainty has become a refined process. A reminder that mastery is born through patience, persistence, and play. Elliott finds inspiration everywhere, from Sister Corita Kent to Egon Schiele, museum visits, and color palettes glimpsed in passing. But her greatest advice to emerging artists is simple: make art often, and make it for yourself. ā€œThink of art as a gift. You deserve to use that part of your brain and soul.ā€ ✨ Read the full interview above! We exist to share your work and your story. Hi everyone! I thought I’d share a bit about myself-it’s been awhile! I’m Kellette, raised in New Jersey, college in Virginia, and now living in Oregon for the past 11 years. Michigan, California and Florida for short spans as well. I’m married to my best friend Templeton @mostlyskateboarding for almost 20 years, with our two cats Frida and Rembrandt. Art has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. I earned my BFA in Drawing and Design, working in graphic design and animation for a few years before I realized teaching is my deep passion. I went back to school for my MS in Art Education. I love teaching all ages, but have a special place in my heart for high schoolers. I started collaging 7 years ago, and it was the first art medium that I truly found my artistic voice. I feel I can tell my stories best through cutting and pasting. Most of my work is autobiographical which has been therapeutic for me. In the last years, I’ve done multiple album covers and book covers. Illustrations for magazines supporting articles and/or covers. Private commissions, galleries and museum exhibitions. If 10 year old Kellette knew I’d be doing this at 45, she’d be really proud. I’m living my dream come true. I also love sharing my passion with others. Not only teaching in the classroom and studio workshops, but also with my local collage community through the Pacific Northwest Collage Collective (@pnwcollagecollective )I co-founded and internationally with the Collage Club (@thecollageclub ). Coming in 2026, I will be teaching more collage workshops in-person and on zoom, starting a newsletter, and participating in and coordinating more art exhibits! More info on all of that coming soon. I appreciate those that have been with me since the beginning, those that are new followers and everyone in-between. Likes, comments, DMs, purchases, etc all are so encouraging and keep me going. Thank you everyone for the love. If you ever have questions about me, my process, collaboration, or anything else, ask away! I’m a natural teacher that loves to share ā¤ļø With love, Kellette

1869: ā€œAlways a Bright sideā€ mixed media collage using gel skin transfer process. At our @pnwcollagecollective meet-up yesterday, one of the members shared that it was Mentsl Health Awareness Month, and they are an advocate for OCD Nevada & Oregon. That they were looking for artwork to potentially use in marketing campaigns or to help those in need of a little support. I immediately wanted to support. I’ve had this gel skin for awhile and had this vision of flowers in the ice…like sometimes things are tough right now, but there WILL eventually be a bright side. I hope this piece will make someone smileā¤ļø

šŸŒšŸ˜āœØ ON THE SAME PAGE āœØšŸ˜šŸŒ This is our first ever exhibition interview; we are joined by @satinandtat.collage and @kelletteworks for their exhibition 'On The Same Page' which is currently showing at @scandinavian_collage_museum ! This show combines friendship and collage; two people from different places coming together for art. We hope this interview deepens your understanding of their works. If you'd like to read more, Kate has posted a blog about the exhibition on their website. If you'd like to purchase works, please reach out to the museum for enquiries, or to each artist! Congratulations to the artists and the museum for this feat! Transversing different lands to come together as one is always celebrated and appreciated by art lovers. We wish we could see it in person! #collagecollective #collageexhibition #artexhibition

Today was so great! We hosted our annual World Collage Day meet-up at Albina Library in Portland, Oregon. Lots of collaging, connecting, laughter and even a giveaway!! @blickartmaterials was so generous in providing $200 in gift vouchers to get collage supplies for our collective! We gave away xacto knives, mixed media journals, rulers, glue pens, cutting mats and more! It was so fun! Thank you @mostly.collage for getting the footage of today’s event and making this beautiful reel for us!

1868: ā€œHollie and Wā€ collage for a dear friend for her birthday. A former student-now married with a beautiful son. Seeing her in this role is one of the most beautiful things. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there. Sending love to all those that have lost their moms, didn’t have mother figures, wanted to be a mom, or it’s just a difficult day.ā¤ļø

Happy World Collage Day! Now on view at the Scandinavian Collage Museum: On The Same Page An exhibition about friendship, distance and belonging. With works by Kellette Elliot (USA) and Kate Cuthbert (AUS). @kelletteworks and @satinandtat.collage Kellette and Kate found friendship through collage. An online caring bond and creative sisterhood that is summarized by the titles in this exhibition. For example : 'Make art Together', 'By my side' or 'Two of us'. A friendship that blooms despite distance, borders, time differences and health issues. In a time where hate and war prevails it is not easy to see the other. But there will always be light. This exhibition celebrates that light. Kellette Elliott is a collage artist and art educator based in Portland, Oregon USA. She creates analog collages that hope to bring you some nostalgia and joy using ephemera and vintage imagery. Her work has appeared in well-known publications like Playboy and New Statesman, Orion and Poetry Foundation. Books about collage, album covers, and one of Print Magazines Top 5 collage artists to follow on Instagram. Kate Cuthbert is a South Australian analogue collage artist working as satin&tat. Scissors. Paper. Negative space. The work is quiet on purpose. The pieces are built from found imagery, mostly fashion, reassembled into something quieter. Print Magazine has called her "a mastermind of minimalistic geometric designs." The intention is simple: a moment to exhale. Her work has been exhibited across Australia, the US, Europe and Scandinavia, and commissioned by The Wall Street Journal, Ted Baker and Earth Greetings. Features include Print Magazine's Top Five Collage Artists to Follow (2021) and a Bronze Award in the Contemporary Collage Magazine Awards (2024).
