Maine Sunrise - May 23, 2019 - Monument Cove - Acadia National Park
This spot is named for its vertical sea stack of granite isolated from the cliff by coastal erosion located directly behind me as I take this shot facing east. Usually photographers capture the large rock monument and the bay below including Otter Point, but I chose to do a longer exposure of the rocks and water as the sun rose over the point in the distance. I think it’s one of the most iconic scenes in Acadia National Park.
This is located on the east side of the Park Loop Road, about . 7 miles past Thunder Hole, is the famous 110 foot high Otter Cliff - one of the highest Atlantic coastal headlands north of Rio de Janeiro. Below it, and just before you reach the view of the point, is Monument Cove and the rocky beach below. @acadianps #acadianationalpark #acadianationalpark❤️ #maine #sunrise #sunrisephotography
Bow Lake at Sunrise - #BowLake is approximately 30 minutes north of Lake Louise, off the #IcefieldsParkway (Hwy 93) in the #Canadian #Rockies and a half mile north of the Crowfoot Glacier. Sitting at an elevation of 1,920 m (6,300 ft), it is one of the largest lakes in #Banff National Park. Fed by meltwater from the Bow Glacier in the Wapta Icefield, the lake lies at the base of Bow Summit, which is perfectly reflected in its aquamarine waters on a calm day. Obviously this morning was a calm day. And I cannot express to you all how incredibly easy this shot was to take. I clicked and looked at it and basically went, “Yup. Got it.” And then I spent an hour just shooting other shots that weren’t any better while also simply taking in the peace, quiet and beauty around me. There was almost NO photo editing done in this shot. It’s 99% what came out of the camera. Helps to have a gorgeous model.
Vermilion Lakes - Banff National Park, Canada #vermilionlakes (or Lake Vermilion) reflect the iconic #MountRundle that looms over the town of #Banff bathed in the warm glow of #Sunset . The series of three lakes are situated west of Banff and are fed by the Bow River in the #CanadianRockies .
The Vermilion Lakes are a series of lakes located immediately west of Banff, #Alberta , in the Canadian Rocky #Mountains .
The three lakes are formed in the Bow River valley, in the Banff National Park, at the foot of Mount Norquay. They are located between the Trans-Canada Highway and the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks. This is the spot where I broke my ankle (surgery upcoming to rebuild it entirely because I also tore 4 ligaments & crushed my cartilage) as I jumped out of the RV and scampered to the lake’s edge to get the shot. One misplaced step, a loud CRACK! and suddenly I’m tumbling down the rocky slope towards the water, camera in hand. I managed to stop on the very edge of the water (think Ethan Hunt in the Vault in MI:1), hand in the water, other holding my @canon #R5 high and ankle SCREAMING in pain. I righted myself, snapped this photo and then turned to hop one-legged back up the slope while several other, much more composed & far less spastic photographers, stared slack-jawed at the idiot American who just did a full-on stunt fall down a slope. I pogo’d back to the RV while they hollered after me to see if I was okay, hiding my embarrassment with a happy wave while I tried not to shout with the pain. I spent the rest of the evening with bags of ice on my ankle and my foot in the air before continuing to drive across Canada with a broken ankle…like the idiot I am.
But I got the shot!
