lately (esp with the @letthemcook.ph events and the gigs i’ve been attending), i’ve been thinking more and more about the kind of music that i want to play. And while i truly appreciate and enjoy the sounds i’ve been sharing up to this point, something still feels missing I remember a random conversation i had with @heyjimmyj at cubao ex and one thing stood out. So i return to the source and partly why i started out in the first place - this set i watched of @porterrobinson in japan where he played jpop and music from anime 😊 i remember thinking “grabe, may dj set pala na ganito!! At sumasayaw at tumatalon yung mga tao!! 😳” like others, i hope to get there one day 🤗 Here is my own version - including some of my recent faves and music i played during @popmoneyworldwide night! Every single day i question if i am a legit dj (or unang una kung ano ba talaga yung “legit”) but maybe the only thing that really matters is that you’re happy with the things you do and create. This year, I turn 30 years old. Growing older has been a bit different this time around because, for the first time ever, the last few months have been filled with regret and longing for the past. I am not entirely sure, but I think having this new number as the first digit of my age had led me to think about the past decade of my life. “why am i only experiencing this now?” “where was this when i was younger?” “bat di ko to naisip dati” “sana hindi nalang nangyari to” “im jealous of those younger than me who have made it” “sana ito nalang ginawa ko” Over and over and over again. And yet! There is this song called “Burn the Bridge,” my favorite track from the first studio album of k-pop group LE SSERAFIM, and when I first listened to it, I teared up! The way it builds up, how the sounds enter and layer, the lyrics and how they are delivered - all come together to create this message of multiple possibilities, of going after what seems unattainable or “forbidden” to you, and of burning the past and using the flames to light the way into the future. So as the song says I will burn this bridge of regrets embrace who I am and use the fire to propel me into the future that I want because maybe just maybe (hopefully lol) I am just getting started 😊 creative direction + styling: @kdlimlim video + color grade: @khristiandt hair + makeup: @jiaachacruz
