@quiltededucation is officially on PBS! [Link in bio]
I’m reminded that even in sadness there is space for celebration. (Though this is admittedly a weird follow-up post for me.)
When I was little I had the opportunity to be on a local PBS kids show called Cat Paws. We arrive to set and I’m told I’ll be dancing with my mom. They get ready to shoot and my mom disappears…much like my shot at child stardom. I have a full meltdown and cry until I’m removed from the stage. (She was in the audience.) Fast forward and here we are on PBS - together, just like I was promised 💃🏽💃🏽. It’s unfortunate that years later Black history is STILL an issue in school systems, but I’m happy I get to celebrate my mother as a Black history hero who took education into her own hands. Take 10mins and check it out.

“The process is the point.”
It’s weird to know I’m doing exactly what I’m supposed to be doing while also being completely insecure about not knowing what I’m doing lol. My solution thus far, keep doing. See what happens when I try new techniques or new mediums without a predetermined vision. Turns out I really like sculpture. (S/o @latactilelab ).
I’m also still figuring out my relationship to social media these days. It’s partially served as a portfolio of polished or completed work in the past and for whatever reason (🗣️she scared yall), I’ve been overthinking it. But then I hear an echo in my head: “the process is part of the art.” This is my sliver of the interwebs to play in, so play I shall. Clean up later.
In addition, the value of sharing the journey as a means of community building has been comically present.
“Can’t wait to check out your work.”
[No work to be found 🤣]
Balancing all the doing is a conversation for a different time, but for now, I leave you ✨
I love a layer any time of year, so I’m building up my ‘lightweight’ arsenal.
Buttonholes aren’t hard, but I will sew 3 new garments to avoid making buttonholes on the first one ha. Consider this my reminder for where to position the lever on my machine. (Also recording yourself threading a needle should be a sport 😅)

I’m a true believer in “follow the fun” and last year sewing was the fun I found myself following. Perhaps I thought my interest was satiated by the film projects I made, but fiber and textiles have been taking up a lot of brain space (as well as phone storage). Having a tactile practice, physically interacting with materials vs screens, has been grounding many ways.
This year I’m experimenting with how I share my practice. My why is community oriented. My explore page is already mostly sewing/fiber content at this point so I’m looking to connect with other people working through their fabric stashes (and really any other makers.) I’m contemplating putting everything sewing and craft related on its own account, but I’ll let that be a part of the experiment. Until then 🧵

I’m excited to announce that @ballisballfilm will have its TV debut this Tuesday, October 14th at 8pm ET on @aspiretv ! We are featured in the episode titled “The Other Side of Pain“ and I hope it inspires your journey to do just that. (Check your local listings link in bio)
Ball is Ball was my first film project and I’m proud to have its journey continue. My continued gratitude to the cast, crew and supporters who have been a part of making this project happen ♥️
Summer ‘25 ☀️
While being present to experiences has been my priority, making this post reminds me of the beauty and value in documenting life.
With the last few years of loss and celebration, I’ve found myself digging through many a drawer and cabinet in search of old family scrapbooks and photo albums. Hidden behind decades of life rests a full sensory experience of memory - each photo carrying a story, each print a texture, each book a smell.
I say all that to say, ya girl was outside this year and I’ll be taking more photos ha. Thanks to everyone I’ve made memories with ♥️
I didn’t sew this outfit for today, but a dandy day at the Met felt like a good day to show it off (and because I got a new light to play with ha).
I made this jacket a couple months ago and in my avoidance of adding buttonholes, I made a skirt. In my avoidance of hemming the skirt, I made a hat. Eventually I finished all of it and here we are lol. #memade
