Introducing the latest member of the Katz Creates team; the Form 4 resin printer! 😘
It's been a little while coming, due to the insane amount of work to get to this point, but the @formlabs Form 4 is almost ready to get put into action making amazing builds!
Why did it take so long? As you may already know, my workshop is very small, and since it lacks a good way to vent outside, I've had to design a custom recirculating ventilation cabinet that could fit into the corner of my workshop. While unassuming on the outside, this project has had a lot of design and engineering go into it! It'll also double as a sanding/paint booth, so it's doing a lot of heavy lifting.
The best part? I'll be sharing the plans open source when it's all finished. 🥳 So if you too want to resin print safely in a small space, I've got you covered!

No more stolen chocolates this Valentine's Day! 🚫
Okay, so maybe chocolate theft isn't an actual problem. 😂 But I thought it would be fun to see what the new UNO Q 4GB from @arduino.cc could do with unique facial recognition, and what kind of mischief I could get up to with it.
This 3D printed chocolate box is running a custom trained object detection model, which on button press looks explicitly for @mr.v0lt to trigger the LEDs and servo to open the lid and deliver those sweet Valentine's Day chocolates! Everyone else is rejected (like @itsdavisdewitt here) and get nada!
I absolutely ADORE making gifts instead of buying them. If you could make anything you could imagine for your friends and loved ones, what would you make??

Yup, it's a 2025 recap!
It's honestly so hard to sum up a whole year in just a handful of words and pictures, and frankly, these barely do it justice. A LOT happened this year, both good and bad, and these photos barely scratch the surface. But in an attempt to recognise some of those things, here's one memorable moment from each month (including October, which Instagram wouldn't let me put text on 😂).
One thing this year did well, was give me time with amazing people, and I'm incredibly grateful for this. If you were one of those people I saw this year, who made me laugh and smile and think, thank you for that. 💜 I haven't forgotten it even a bit!

3D Printed names in ✨lights✨!
I always like to surprise my friends at Thanksgiving with custom place cards, and this year I decided to go a bit retro! I designed these tiny cinema marquee place cards, and everyone got to build their own.
The design is clever and perfect for 3D printing on my @bambulab_official H2D, since I needed enough for everyone and I needed them FAST. They snap fit together and use an LED noodle + two AAA batteries to give that perfect warm glow.
Giving my friends a unique experience AND something special to take home? Priceless. 🥰

✨How I repaired my broken bones with gold and porcelain ✨
Not literally, of course. But using a terrible bike accident and Grade 5 tibial plateau fracture as fuel for creating beautiful and unique art has been healing beyond measure.
It's hard to understate just how disruptive this accident was to my life. It's wild to think about how normal things feel now relative to then, but there was a very real period where I wasn't sure if I would walk without pain again. Mentally, this threw me for a huge loop, and being able to turn the whole thing into art completely transformed it for me.
Being able to add a bit of gold to these beauties three years after the accident feels quite poignant.
I can't pretend what happened didn't change me, but I refuse to be reduced by it. 💜

Gold repair for broken bones???
Okay, not EXACTLY. In fact, this effect isn't created with kintsugi/金次 at all, but is done with a special over glaze called gold lustre. It's painted on the fired ceramic piece and fired again at a lower temperature to set the gold.
That's right, it is SET. So any mistakes are forever immortalised on it too??
Thankfully not! It turns out you can fix most mistakes with a bit of Barkeepers Friend and some elbow grease. Win!
These beautiful vases are finally complete, though I cannot recommend breaking your bones to achieve them. 🤦
