The Flock“ 2025 belongs to a series of glass fiber globs painted with color, pencil and watercolor on gesso by Katja Davar. The British-German artist living in Cologne is a professor of experimental drawing at Mainz University of Applied Sciences. In videos, drawings and digital animations, she deals with the relationship between man, nature and new technologies. Davar’s work is based on intensive research on the respective topic and creates an awareness that the boundaries between human action, technological developments and the organic environment are not as clear as we sometimes assume. The motif of „The Flock“ shows a fictional landscape. The points formation visualizes a real flight route of certain migratory birds that leads across the Pacific Ocean. The analysis of bird flight routes and their migration behavior is a very precise indicator of climate change for science.
Davar’s impressive globes can be seen from April 24, 2026 at the Museum am Dom in Trier as part of the Rhineland-Palatinate Triennale..

Last week at the V & A London of the stunning exhibition: The Great Mughals - Art, Architecture and Opulence showcasing the sophisticated artistic language developed in the Indian subcontinent from about 1560 to 1660, spanning the reign of three emperors: Akbar, Jahangir and Shah Jahan. Hindu and Muslim artists and craftsmen from northern India collaborated with Iranian masters in the royal workshops and this fusion of distinct artistic traditions led to the creation of an evolving style of art for the Mughal court. Exquisite illustrated manuscripts, finely woven textiles, and delicately cut gemstones represent the extraordinary wealth of this empire.
An amazing show at @vamuseum curated by #susanstrong demonstrates a legacy of cultural innovation and artistry.
