Next up: Parenthood @bbc @silverback_films A special one as I got to hang out with the legend that is @moffatt.lily and now firm friend. One of the best things about shoots 👌 Also the first series I’ve worked on to be narrated by David Attenborough which is always a wildlife filming dream. Huge hands up for our wicked Mongolian crew. Never taken for granted getting to go to places like this.

Catching up on recent series I’ve worked on that have come out! The Wild Ones on @appletv , a very challenging but incredibly fun shoot on a very rocky boat with a stellar cast and crew 🙌 These photos don’t do it justice but a nice one for the memory bank #thewildones #appletv

It’s only been two days and I’m already missing the rollercoaster that was the ultra marathon @spinerace . I didn’t know what to expect from this event as I’ve not done anything like it before, but it was by far the hardest and most rewarding thing I have ever done. I’ve never learnt more about what my body is capable of pushing through. And ultimately, as it usually is with most things, it’s the people I met along the way that got me through it. Insanely strong bonds built over only a night or two as you share in magnificent highs and agonizing lows. The wonderful humans that are Lisa, Stuart, Ian and Mick who I joined after spending a few brutal days alone really lifted my spirits, and I’m so lucky I got to cross the finish line with Lisa (who is an incredible lady, and a proper laugh). We shared absolute delirium together and that is something that sticks with you. Massive thank you to friends, family and wonderful strangers that cheered me on and dot watched/sent me messages to get me through! @dominicalexander.harrison for being my rock and chief support, @josephinebush for being an excellent mentor alongside Georgie and Annie who are such tough women. The medics and volunteers who were not hallucinations and got me through the darkest moments (genuine heroes). I’ll write a detailed blog for my own records that I’ll publish for anyone intrigued to enter. 268 Miles 153 Hrs finish time ~5 hours sleep (total!) I’m not very good at saying I did a good job, but I’m bloody proud of myself for this one.

The moment that stood out for me was when we were searching for the pod all day and were about to call it quits as it was getting dark. We turned a corner and saw spouts in the distance. As we approached, we witnessed an incredible sight: 9-10 whales breaching almost in unison, with 4-5 of them lobtailing in harmony. It was a breathtaking moment, and I doubt I’ll ever see so many whales breach in unison again. Our biggest challenge was figuring out where the whales were going to bubble net. We didn’t have the usual large swarm of fish to guide us, so it was tricky to position the camera correctly before they surfaced. Spotting the calf and her mother for the first time was a huge triumph. We also managed to successfully tag some of the whales with our science team, and the footage we captured was pretty spectacular - especially when we saw a breach from the whale’s perspective. For our setup, we used the RED GEMINI 5K with CN20 in our Shotover. The low-light capabilities of the #GEMINI5K were crucial in capturing beautiful footage when the light was poor and allowed us to film much later into the evening. #IncredibleAnimalJourneys Takeover | Episode 1: Ocean Odyssey with wildlife filmmaker @katiejocelynvickers

Gannets are pretty cool. Reach speeds of 65km/hr, mate for life, and have muscles that lock their vertebrae in place so it doesn’t snap while diving 👌
