Hi Chicago 👋
Come find me at the 114th Annual @caavisual Conference. I'll be chairing a panel called A New Perfect Moment: Sex, Gender Ambiguity, and Identity Beyond the Binary featuring a killer lineup of artists -- @mayavivas@tommybruce@chaneechoi and @moresweetbeef 💢
I'm absolutely thrilled to be bringing this group of visionary makers and thinkers together to discuss the importance of play, sensuality, intimacy and closeness in contemporary practice. I'm feeling grateful for a practice that has kept me rooted in the sensual, the tactile, and the erotic, and for my SAIC, NCECA, and New Mexico networks that have allowed me the privilege of meeting and knowing so many amazing culture-bearers. Come put your butt in a seat at 4:30pm tomorrow and we will get into it.
See you there.
It's Friday. I've got residual phlegm from a nasty cold. My packing list is nearly ready. My presentation backup is on a flash drive. Tomorrow, I oversee @apologomez installation in the window box. Tuesday, I leave for Salt Lake City to participate in #nceca2025, and one week from now, I'll be celebrating my first publication with my @nceca family and my family-family @themore_themarion and @claudia.mulr ✨️
It's pretty surreal to see my face on the nceca grid. It's honestly a bit overwhelming, and I've been avoiding talking about it too much because I feel a bit imposter-y. But I am so, so grateful to be presenting my work at this conference, to people who understand clay on an intimate and personal level.
If you plan to be in slc next week, hit me up! My number is the same, or you could shoot me a DM. I can't promise I'll be free before Friday morning (presentation jitters), but I'll be thrilled to meet between conference sessions for a snacky or yap at an opening. Let's get dusty.

Got to spend a whole afternoon this week with the incomparable Delilah Montoya assisting her with installing the altar for her piece, La Guadalupana. As we worked, we spoke about the school to prison pipeline, the story of new Spain, of manifest destiny, and of the disappearing of people happening in Albuquerque these last couple weeks.
This photo mural was created in 1998, capturing centuries of colonization, systemic racism, and oppression in one monumental work. Almost 30 years have passed, and casual, institutionalized violence continues being forced on brown bodies. La Guadalupana venerates the image of the Virgen, but also the image of the incarcerated and forgotten, the disappeared, the working class, and the oppressed.
Thank you Delilah for making this work, and for letting me, @alexandra__terry , and @andrewmichaeltaylor play a small part in it 💜 Can't wait to see it shine at the opening tomorrow.
