Hulubalang is the solo project of inventive electronic producer, sound artist, label owner (Gorong Gorong Records) and DJ Kasimyn from Indonesia, best known as one-half of Gabber Modus Operandi. Debut album 'Bunyi Bunyi Tumbal', released in June 2023 on Jordanian label Drowned by Locals. The Quietus lauded his album as "ambitious in every sense; technically masterful, conceptually complex, and emotionally potent".
Hailing from Kenya, the duo ODD OKODDO consisting of Sven Kacirek and Olith Ratego works with a spellbinding blend of avantgarde electronic rhythms and contemporary folk tradition of the Kenyan Luo people. The result is what singer and instrument builder Olith Ratego calls "dodo blues". Collaborating with Ogoya Nengo they will be releasing a new abum PALAGEMO on June 5th via From Cool Waters – PALAGOMA channels an electroacoustic synergy unlike anything you’ve ever heard before. They will be playing their release concert aboard the MS Stubnitz.

At Rewire 2026, Asian Dope Boys present, 'PHYSIS' – an eight-hour-long work that blurs the boundaries between performance, club, concert, and theatre and treats audiences to an immersive durational experience.
A concoctor of "happenings" of immense scale and form, Tianzhuo Chen is the artist behind @asian_dope_boys , bringing together an extensive supergroup including @dis_fig , Ican Harem (GMO), @kasimyn (GMO), @9im5an , @felixfloriantodtloff , City, @___ndoho___ , @laviniavago , Léa Djyl, @gomcoclamp , @sikosetyanto , @ylvafalk , and @gothtrad .
Ahead of Asian Dope Boys’s performance at Rewire 2026, we spoke to Tianzhou Chen about his approach to directing and organising durational performances and how improvisation and chaos shape its preparation and unfolding. The conversation also touches on the political potency he sees in rave culture, the evolution of Asian Dope Boys as a fluid and collaborative project, and what audiences can expect from 'PHYSIS' during Rewire’s 15th anniversary edition.

We are delighted to announce our first exhibition of the year and inaugural showcase dedicated to sonic composition by composers and artists. Arch presents the ongoing studies and exploration of compositions by Dewa Alit, Aditya Surya Taruna, Putu Septa and Dea Barandana. These artists share an interest in working within, rather than against or independent of, material realities and conventions.

We begin with a fundamental proposition about the nature of existence in the Nusantara: sound is not merely physics; it is a divine game. As the renowned writer Danarto famously posited in his 1986 essay, “Mustahil Tuhan tak ikut bermain, Mustahil Tuhan ikut bermain” (It is impossible that God does not play, It is impossible that God does play), reflecting on a childhood immersed in the traditions of wayang, dance, and the gamelan; roots that teach us there is no distance between the mortal world and the afterlife. While not every composition in this showcase utilizes the gamelan literally, the works are adopted into and intertwined with this narrative, navigating the persistent tension between local sonic traditions and the global stage. Often, the narrative of “modernity” in sound has been written with the West as the main protagonist, leading to a “domestication” or exoticization of local sounds that flattens their complex histories. Drawing on what Sunarto identifies as the “local genius” of Nusantara; a sophisticated assimilation of ethnic, Hindu, and Buddhist influences, Arch explores how these histories can be reclaimed. Here, contemporary composition meets this local genius to create a dialogue that refuses to be simplified for easy consumption.
