#suniimoment 010 ā Karsten Madsen
@karstenmad spent years as a pro athlete, locked into the discipline and single-focus mindset that comes with competing at the highest level. But what got me wasnāt what he did in sport, itās what he chose to do after.
He started volunteering with Pemberton Search and Rescue, and loved it so much he decided to take it further. Now, he basically saves lives full time, both as a paramedic and as part of SAR. (Sorry for making this sound like superman, but I mean, he literally saves lives, what can I say!)
When we spoke, it was clear how much it means to him. You could feel it in the way he talked about learning, growing, and wanting to be able to help people in every way he can. Itās not just something he does right, it seems like its something that gets him through the world now.
I think itās rare, and honestly super inspiring, to go from being so deep in your sport to finding something that lights you up just as much, but for totally different reasons.
Karsten is the definition of being on-the-go. He can get a call at any moment, and there he goes, out the door, ready to help!
if this isnāt a #suniimoment, I donāt know what is!
