Introducing Gumtree Golf & Nature Club, Brooklyn – a sanctuary of a physical space that’s part shop, part workshop and part showroom. Located across from a park in the heart of Greenpoint, the space has been built out with recycled materials, including branches from discarded trees, leftover paracord from old GGNC products, and found wood and stone bricks from the neighborhood. All the furniture is previously loved vintage, with the rugs and tapestries dating back to 19th century Bengal and Afghanistan. Towering trees bring the outdoors in and the calming feeling of nature into the middle of NYC. Opening weekend hours - Friday 12-6p and Saturday 12-6p. Stop by for free coffee, drinks and snacks, as well as 15% off everything and exclusive product only available in store. I almost didn’t launch Gumtree Golf & Nature Club at all. I designed it and buried it in some folder called “stuff” on my Macbook for over a year; I was convinced the golf world didn’t need another brand and I didn’t want to add to the noise. Three months ago, I still felt like I was sitting on a perspective that I wanted to see in the space - the desire to highlight and meld the natural beauty, flora and fauna of each golf environment with the golfers who play amongst them. Surely there were some others out there into that “stuff” too… So I decided to leave my job in advertising and give it a go anyway. It was intimidating as hell, but reflecting back, I know I made the right call. The feedback and support I’ve gotten since launch has been overwhelming and ultimately, so inspiring. To everyone who’s reached out to say hello, hear more about the brand, play a round of golf, share a piece of my photography, and of course, to all those who have purchased something and repped the brand, I just want to say a big old thank you.
