// Live concert and projection performance — The final articulation of “Dream Logic for a City,” transforming accumulated visitor sounds into a one-off live audiovisual composition. At the exhibition finissage, composer and sound artist Karl Chueiri Heding transforms this accumulated archive into a one-off live performance. The sounds generated by visitors are reassembled as music, shifting between ambient textures, rhythmic structures, melodic fragments, and experimental soundscapes. The installation itself remains open to visitors throughout. “Experiments in Situ “explores consciousness in the age of AI through photography, projection installations, and workshops. “Dream Logic for a City” is co-developed by Alexandra Shander & Karl Chueiri Heding. Finissage Concert: Sunday 1 February 14:00-16:00 Free admission Read more on the gallery website.

Experiments in Situ Experiments in Situ explores consciousness in an age shaped by artificial intelligence. Revisiting René Descartes’ famous doubt — “I think, therefore I am” — the exhibition asks whether superintelligent machines can ever become conscious, and what a screen-saturated culture means for human intentionality, presence, and our capacity to dwell in the here and now. Rather than offering finished answers, the exhibition unfolds across three gallery rooms as a series of experimental spaces. Through photography, projection installations, and participatory workshops, visitors are invited to think, feel, and reflect alongside the artists. Opening hours: 21 Jan-1 Feb 15:00-18:00 Finissage: 1 February 14:00-18:00 Free admission. Contributing artists: Kim Wyon, Rika Yasui and Alexandra Shander from the gallery, with guest artist Karl Chueiri Heding.

We’re in countdown mode for “Experiments in Situ” — opening with a soft launch on Wednesday 21 January. Not everything may be fully switched on yet, but the doors are open: step inside, interact with immersive installations, and meet the artists behind the gallery’s first experimental period. Moving beyond print-on-wall photography, the exhibition looks to philosophy and technology alike. In an age of AI, Descartes’ famous doubt — “I think, therefore I am” — is revisited. Can machines ever become conscious, and what does that mean for us as sentient beings, increasingly detached from bodies, presence, and each other in a screen-saturated culture? Vernissage: 23 January 15:00-19:00 Opening hours: 21 Jan-1 Feb 15:00-18:00 Contributing artists: Kim Wyon, Rika Yasui and Alexandra Shander from the gallery, with guest artist Karl Chueiri Heding.

37 concerts, 64 acts, 1,898 tickets sold. Last night, we concluded our 2025 program with an amazing triple bill at ALICE. A sincere and heartfelt thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, performed at one of the shows, collaborated with us, supported us through various funds, and to our incredible volunteers. Final Descent will always be about being in motion, trying new things and refusing the comfort of predictability. Next year will be different in many ways. There will be fewer show days but bigger events. We will continue focusing on working directly with musicians, presenting work that would not otherwise find its way to Copenhagen and further exploring the space between folk music, performing arts and visual art. We are going to miss you over the next few months. Soon, we will announce our Vinterjazz program and then we will take it step by step from there. In the meantime, we will be quiet, fundraising, planning, connecting and resting. But we are already very excited to see all of you again. TONIGHT THE FUTURE BEGINS Tonight we open the doors to the second edition of Closer To Final Descent, a series of mini-festivals that exceed our regular program in both scale and ambition. This edition presents six different takes on traditional music that have gone through some form of experimentation — or as we like to put it, recontextualized folk music. Music with clear roots in tradition, illuminated by new perspectives. It all takes place at Basement. Doors open at 19:30. Tickets via link in bio. Tonight we look forward to entrancing choral experiments from Polish vocal quartet Kwiotki, audiovisual glitch adventures with local duo Lipbalm, and the theatrical hypnotism of the German/Austrian/Serbian trio Gordan.
Tomorrow follows with minimalistic North Caucasian folk from Jrpjej, Nordic choir textures accompanying local singer Sophie-lou’s dramatic chamber pop, and an intense industrial bhangra mashup from Indian-American producer Kush Aurora’s project Only Now. Closer To Final Descent #2 – Two Nights of Recontextualized Folk Music is not only a curation of adventurous sounds, but also a new beginning for Final Descent. As we move into 2026, we’ll host fewer “typical” concerts and more events like this, often in collaboration with other promoters, labels, or collectives. The live scene in Copenhagen is thriving, but often overcrowded, and we want to build togetherness instead of competition. Huge thanks to Copenhagen Municipality for supporting musician fees, allowing us to continue another year with the same energy and ambition. We may squeeze more into fewer dates, but the quality stays sky-high. If you can’t make it tonight, join us again soon when, together with ALICE, we present a two-day showcase of the magnificent Irish experimental label Nyahh Records, bringing six incredible artists from the contemporary Irish scene to Copenhagen. Hugs and prayers for a better future for all of us,
Emilia, Karl, Martin & the Final Descent Team Closer To Final Descent #2 is extraordinarily supported by Vesterbro Lokaludvalg — much love and thanks!

Oktober. Vi glæder os til at se jer 🤍 @unionkbh @finaldescent.cph @melanieborgueful @nilsgroendahl

31.10.25: Nils Gröndahl (DK/DE) + Borguefül (FR) @ Union Nils Gröndahl performs alone on stage, wielding a detuned violin and a sea of effect pedals to conjure an intense blend of droning riffs, melancholic ballads sung in German, and towering, gothic noise cathedrals. In Borguefül’s mystical universe, solo bass explorations and commanding vocals intertwine, merging free improvisation with the traditions of French chanson. Experience two soloists transforming strings, effects, and voice into their sole instruments of expression in an intimate setting at Union. Tickets via link in bio ♡

Introducing Zeki Jindyl (DK) Emotive R’n’B and post-rock meet doom metal and cacophonous noise on Zeki Jindyl’s debut solo album. The Copenhagen-based saxophonist – known from Caktus and Narcosatanicos, as well as numerous guest appearances and spontaneous collaborations – has crafted STRETCH//RELATIONS (Pink Cotton Candy), an album where genres effortlessly merge, constantly walking the fine line between extremes: the sorrowful and the ecstatic, the grand and the minimalist, the noisy and the quiet. At his concert at Basement on September 17th, Jindyl will perform his solo material in a minimalist setting, using only his EWI (electronic wind instrument), effect pedals, and voice. Expect an intimate, experimental set drawing on ambient soundscapes, melodic improvisation, and moments of intense, cathartic release. He shares the bill with German saxophonist Julius Gabriel, who will hypnotize us with circular breathing and complex rhythms. Read more & find tickets via the link in our bio ♡
