i love being able to post something that shows the movement to my work as the living, breathing movement of film is why itās so special to me.
it hasnāt been an easy road but iām happy to celebrate how far iāve come and all the incredible friends and talented professionals who iāve met along the way. lots of love, xo
the ocean // for @saidthewhale
ooooh boy this was a special one for me, shooting 16mm with a micro crew and great friends. jumping in and out of vans and almost falling off this boat in the wind storms of october 2021, it felt like we robbed a bank pulling this video off.
THANK YOU

āhello beautifulā for arcāteryx films
for this piece, i wanted a lens with lots of character and distortion to help tell the story and elevate climbing visuals. i was dead set on it feeling different than other climbing films iād seen before.
thanks to @keslowcamera i was able to do a multi day lens test and try just about every cinema zoom available to find the right fit - i finally landed on the Voigtlander Zoomar, a distortion heavy vintage lens that gave us the look pictured in the first slide. this was definitely my favourite lens of the shoot.
we also shot a large portion of the film on an Angenieux HR 25-250, and supplemented with a couple rehoused TLS Fuji EBC lenses (used in second slide pan shot).

āhello beautifulā for arcāteryx films
this was my first shoot back to work last spring after suffering an on-set concussion so bad i had to retrain my brain to walk without getting dizzy
i remember hiking the scout and barely being able to keep up - but shooting this film brought me back to life.
@darcythedirector and i set out to make a climbing film that felt new and stood on its own, and most importantly felt true to @alannah_yip ās story
it was a very special week, a real team effort, many hands lugging gear through the forest. happy to share this one and thank you to all involved:
