Nagini 🐍 📸 Photography by the amazing @espear_photo What an amazing experience it was choreographing and performing a piece for @imgedance ‘s WinterWorks - Student Choreography Showcase under the mentorship of @ishitamili ! This was a new choreographic style for me (and first NYC performance!) so thankful for the opportunity and platform to explore new styles of expression! NaginiNaya is a brief character study exploring Nagini, a mythical snake creature with shape shifting abilities, capable of going from human to snake. Nagini is alluring, enigmatic, and cunning but most of all hubristic— a trait that eventually leads to her downfall. ✨📽️ Living out my retro Malayalam actress fantasy 📽️✨ This past weekend, I had the opportunity to perform my own full-length solo dance production for the first time! Mayakazcha began as a concept video that I directed and produced during the pandemic. I had the idea of showcasing the rich history of Malayalam cinema through the medium of dance and thus, Mayakazcha was born. This concept is a peek into how Malayalam cinema has evolved into the industry it is today, from its very first silent film to its first OTT-released film. Mayakazcha was extended into a full-length, live dance production exclusively for the Malayalaee Association of Southwest Florida where it debuted this past weekend to great receipt! This was an incredibly rewarding experience although hard work as this was my first time developing a solo dance drama as well as a 70 minute show. This was however, also one of the most enjoyable development experiences I’ve had and I’m so excited for the next one! I cannot thank the Malayalee Association of Southwest Florida enough for this incredible opportunity and all their support throughout this process. And of course, thank you to my parents and my momager especially for their hard work and support!!
