We’re proud to announce our first official release from TLS as a label under @mofunkrecords !! Tokyo Love Song Vol. 2 is the latest installment in this city pop mix series started earlier this year. This volume is mixed by TLS founder @kaistarla and focuses on a few areas that even the most seasoned city pop aficionados tend to overlook: Side A is all late 80’s & early 90’s ‘CD era’ tracks, many of which were never released on vinyl back in the day, while Side B is giving light to some of the more contemporary artists keeping the city pop sound fresh. Available on tape & CD, only 100 copies made of each!! Come celebrate the release of the mix (and celebrate @kaistarla ’s bday too!) tonight at the next edition of Tokyo Love Song. For our first vinyl release from @tokyolovesong we put a 1985 Japanese electro funk cult classic on 7” for the first time! Minoru ‘Hoodoo’ Fushimi’s “In Praise Of Mitochondria” comes from his “Thanatos Of Funk” album, a private press rarity that lives on many a record collector’s want list. On the b-side I retwisted the song with @milk.talk & we called it “Funkin’ Me Up.” It’s out now in the physical form at the @mofunkrecords website - classic black wax or translucent blue (limited to 150 copies) - the link is right where you think!! Couple things back in stock at the MoFunk website!! First two volumes of the @tokyolovesong mix series on CD now available once again!! @xlmiddleton ’s Vol. 1 mix focuses heavy on 80’s era city pop boogie funk, while @kaistarla ’s Vol. 2 mix is divided between 90’s ‘CD era’ + more recent ‘modern city pop.’ Cassettes also available and we’ve still got the third volume of TLS on CD by @djnotoya !!! We’ve also got some more copies of the “Serious” 7” by @kazzeymusic & @xlmiddleton !! The original version which was a smash with the dancers + @xlmiddleton ’s Midnight Drift Remix on the flip.
