4/26 - [PROBLACK THURSDAY] Imagine this, if you’re seeing this photo on April 30th 2026… my mother took this photo of me 40 years ago today, I miss her handwriting. This is why pictures are CRUCIALLY important.
4/26 - I had the pleasure to capture @thundercatmusic at @amoebahollywood for an album signing of his latest album called “Distracted” on @brainfeederrecords , also much love to the Amoeba staff for always being supportive for always going above and beyond for me. Appreciate each and every one of you.
2/26 - I’m going to end Black History Month with a surprise, and I’m going to do it with the help of @moniquea1 . I shot the cover for her newest album “Womp In My Spirit”, @foniksbumps did the drawings on the side representing some of the things she grew up with in her native Pasadena. The title track is a popular hit during live performances, but “Got Me Like” is my personal favorite but I felt it captured Moniquea’s essence perfectly. I shot the video for the opening track “Get It Together” a few years ago (I have a soft spot for that song) but I was also asked to shoot the video for the following track entitled “However You Are” with the guidance of @xlmiddleton , we shot that in 3 different styles so that was fun. One interesting fun fact to mention, the video for “Womp In My Spirit” was shot in my favorite city in the world (Shibuya, Japan) but I didn’t film that one. Another one for the @mofunkrecords family, always glad to be part of it.
2/26 - Today is my mother’s birthday, this will be the first of many that I will have to celebrate without her. Did you know that my mother was the person responsible for introducing me to the pizookie? She had lunch with her best friend one day and loved it so much that she forced me to try one after work the following day, she picked me up from work herself so she could see my facial expression having the first bite (I do this with everybody else today). She never wanted fancy dinners or anything extravagant, just something this simple made her happy. So I’m honoring her by doing the same with some of her favorite foods today, I wish she was here to try the Butterfinger one. She would’ve loved it, HBD Lavender Lady.
12/25 - “The Best Men”
This is low-key a Christmas gift to my mother seeing that she liked “The Best Man” movies, they're all good peoples and she wouldve been happy to see this photo. If you saw “The Best Man Holiday”, you'd know why I picked this song.
