A new type of love that is completely overwhelming. My heart swells and my mind fills with a profound gratitude to every person who helped bring me to this moment in my life.
My mother, who let me be as weird as I wanted to be and taught me to be honest, kind and curious. She would take me to the library at the drop of a hat and showed me all of her favorite films. All of the TCM bangers. I remember her being so happy when I liked one. I’ll be doing that now too.. staring at Saoirse as we watch Wizard of Oz…
My father, a thrill seeker who never seemed to stop moving and never complained. He showed me how to be brave but also vulnerable. His dinner table stories introduced me to morbidity and humor and I can’t thank him enough for that. Very big shoes to fill but I accept the challenge.
My brother, who always was and always will be the coolest dude in the world to me. He introduced me to so much good music and skating and always watched out for me. I couldn’t have had a better role model.
My friends. Too many to list, man. Some have come and gone as we grew up and moved onto the next place but all of you live in my heart forever. Not rent free but a pretty reasonable rate by todays standards. Thank you all for never wanting to be serious unless absolutely necessary and for always being down for a car trip to somewhere new and strange.
