Introducing Winston! You might already know a little bit about Winston, co-founder of the Central Coast House Music Collective from our last post. From Winston and Ferrero’s first meeting at a gig over 20 years ago, to a #1 on iTunes, residencies across the Coast and Sydney, playing the Ministry of Sound tour, running their WOYBIZA party, TIKIhaus Records level and warm-ups for PNAU and Sneaky Sound System - Winston & Ferrero have been putting in the work for over two decades. The CCHMC have a couple of parties coming up, Woybiza in June which I am chuffed to have been invited to play at and they are celebrating 4 great years of CCHMC on September 26! Follow their page @central_coast_house_music for all the details! Meanwhile, Ian (he/him), aka Winston, takes on our Odd Socks questions, and with over 25 years behind the decks, he is still very much in it for the people on the dancefloor! Introducing Ferrero, one of the co-founders of the @central_coast_house_music collective. Ashley (he/him), aka Ferrero, had some superb answers for our Odd Socks questions. Winston & Ferrero’s DJ Bio: Winston & Ferrero are living proof that getting older doesn’t mean slowing down… just doing it with more style. After first crossing paths on a dancefloor over 20 years ago, a shared love of house music (and a few beers) turned into a lifelong friendship. Since then, they’ve carved out their own lanes across the Central Coast and Sydney, holding down residencies at iconic spots like Woodies, DragonFly, Key Largo and YU, and even stepping up for the Ministry of Sound tour back in the 2000s. In the studio, they’ve clocked up a #1 on iTunes and released on respected local and international labels including VinylPusher, Kitschy Records and Longdistance Recordings — alongside remix work for the likes of Mark Dynamix and StoneBridge. Lately, they’ve become the trusted warm-up selectors for acts like PNAU, Sneaky Sound System, and internationals hitting the Coast including Freestylers (Drifters) and Riva Starr (PAV). Between their podcast spotlighting local talent, their unforgettable WOYBIZA parties, their label TIKIhaus Records and developing their live Daft Chunk show. Winston & Ferrero are as active as ever — and more than ready to light things up again at Funhaus. With over 20 years experience, we’re looking forward to what Ferrero serves up on the night. Introducing DandyLyon! DandyLyon is an Inner Westie Queer with soul in her DNA & always a dancefloor in her sights. Drawing on a lifetime of RnB, hip hop and classic cuts from the 80s, 90s and 00s, her remixes sit right in that sweet spot between nu disco, funk, percussive and soulful tech house. Music you remember, energy you won’t forget. We put our usual questions to Joan (she/her) aka DandyLyon. Her answers are considered, thoughtful, and so very Odd Socks! 🧦🪩 Last tix at 15 buckos - .au/whats-on/odd-socks/

Hi y’all, we have started a dedicated Odd Socks Community page over on Upscrolled to keep up on upcoming events. Upscrolled was built by a Palestinian-Australian developer as a direct response to Big Tech censorship - no shadowbans or data sales and transparent algorithms. We know it’s a lot. Downloading a new app, logging in, creating a new profile, building your followers… But we want to move away from this evil empire! We will continue to share all of our important info here but the exclusive odd socks vibes are over at oddsockscommunity@upscrolled - see link in my bio. As a little incentive we are offering a free double pass to our next dance party. To win, join/follow before 5 June. We’ll announce the winner on 6 June! #upscrolled

Instagram account and Facebook events across FunHaus Factory, Coastal Twist Festival, and Central Coast Pride have been removed by @meta ! Censorship is real but we have the power to fight back and that’s exactly what the FunHaus crew are doing! They’re taking back control of their stories and images, reclaiming audience data by moving to independent platforms, and building their own marketing channels!! Support them by subscribing to their newsletter via their website - .au/subscribe; spread the word by sharing events with your friends and communities; if you are an artist, a touring show or band, email them - [email protected] and most importantly support them by attending their events — .au/whats-on Check out my story for a link to Qnews article covering this. “Freedom to express and connect is not a given, and as global imbalance continues to grow, we just have to keep standing up for ourselves and for what we inherently know is right.” ✊🏽

Thank you to everyone who came through, danced, and made the room what it was on Saturday. BIG love to those who traveled from outside the coast ❤️ Saturday is evidence that there is a community up here keen for electronic music that lives outside the mainstream. This humble little Odd Socks party is growing and we’re only at event number 2 - thanks to all of you! Special thanks to @ninja.belle , @djreikiaura and @trentmissingham for delivering fire sets all night; @marcdemo for the amazing visuals and for helping and supporting me behind the scenes; Hahra for managing the door so perfectly; @kingskin for the coolest dressed mannequins I have ever seen! and of course @funhausfactory for the beautiful space and amazing staff keeping everyone fed and hydrated. Stay tuned for the next one ❤️🧦❤️

The world is heavy and sharing posts to come party has felt maybe a bit wrong … but I also believe that this is exactly when we need each other most - a room, loud music, and the permission to just ‘be’ in our body for a few hours - to move, breathe, release, and connect. Come find this at Odd Socks on Saturday night. Selectors Reiki Aura, ADHDJ, Mr-T and Kate Doherty - deep, proggy, tribal techno and beyond. No dress code, though odd socks are always encouraged!. We hold this space with care - inclusive, welcoming, and zero tolerance for anything that makes someone feel unsafe. All folx welcome here. Free entry for mob 🖤💛❤️ We acknowledge all First Nations peoples as the Traditional Custodians of this land, and their deep, continuing connection to country, waters, and culture. The world is heavy. Music is medicine. Community is resistance. See you on the dancefloor 🪩 Ticket link in my bio x

For our final Odd Socks ‘getting to know the djs’, meet Simone (she/her) aka Reiki Aura. Simone shares her thoughts on connection, the creative energy and input behind every event, and why celebrating difference matters. 🧦 What year did you start DJing and where was your first gig? I started DJing when my soul entered this world through my Mother. She was a Disco DJ in the 70’s she played at many Sydney Nightclubs including the infamous Centrefold Nightclub and what went on to become one of my favourite Sydney clubs, Club 77. Bedroom banging as we referred to, birthed the second coming of my DJing in the early 90’s. My first paid gig @ The Burdekin Hotel was a story to tell and a night I may have wanted to forget had I chosen not to see the funny side! What’s the first song you ever loved? How old were you? My vivid memory reminds me there was more than one! Fleetwood Mac’s “TUSK” and Boney M’s “RASPUTIN” two of many. I believe it’s classified info as to how old I was, however I can reveal it was definitely not long after I spat the dummy out. What does community mean to you in the context of nightlife? I believe community is essential for survival. In the context of nightlife, it’s like first aid to a wound. It’s love, it’s healing in the essence of connecting people through our primal roots of ceremony, substance, creativity, art, music, dancing, singing. The rhythms of the night, without people feeling like the spotlight of judgement is on them.  What’s something the dancers never see, but matters most to you? The beautiful feelings and sensation of connection that I experience when we all come together as a collective to create a unique shared experience. Also the amazing creative work and energy that is put in behind the scenes by so many others to create the event that we are all enjoying together in that moment.  Continued in comments… Ticket link in my bio 🤘🏽 @djreikiaura Flyer Art @marcdemo Venue @funhausfactory

Introducing Odd Socks Headliner, Reiki Aura! I was front and centre at warehouse gigs in the late 90s, dancing to Reiki Aura’s sets well before I imagined I’d DJ. She, alongside Lush Puppy, DJ Thao and Visceral inspired me so much, and in a heavily male dominated environment helped me realise I could do it too. With Reiki Aura based on the Central Coast, it feels especially perfect to have her headline this Odd Socks edition as we showcase local talent. 🎶 Bio: Reiki Aura is an energy-driven DJ creating immersive, high-impact dancefloor journeys. Blending Techno, Tech-House & Trance, her sound is powered by driving basslines, hypnotic grooves and uplifting, tribal-infused percussion. Once she locks the floor in, it stays locked. With roots in Sydney’s OG underground since the 90s, RA earned her place as one of the city’s defining Techno DJs, often crowned the Queen of Techno. From clubs, raves, warehouses and bush doofs to Far North QLD and Thailand’s iconic Full Moon & Black Moon parties, she’s shared stages with international heavyweights and consistently delivered next-level energy. Guided by intuition, RA reads the crowd in real time, shaping atmosphere and momentum as the night unfolds. Her performances are about connection, movement, and shared energy. A long-time advocate for women in EDM, she’s hosted 2SER’s Wash, founded her own event Ascension, co-founded Chicks With Decks, collaborated with Central Coast’s Flux crews to run events, and collaborated with Sydney DJ Thao in the studio to create thumping, euphoric bangers. For Odd Socks, expect an exclusive 2-hour vinyl set on the wheels of steel, raw OG underground energy, unified flow, and maybe a surprise or two. Grab a ticket (link in bio) and support local 🙌🏽 @djreikiaura @simonedoofer Artwork @marcdemo Venue @funhausfactory
