Reflecting on my 'Eternal Shadows' installation part of the 'Dreams that wake' exhibition last month at @bardo_projektraum Unfolding from this space of waking, where what has been erased refuses to disappear. The work traces fragments of lives in Gaza, gestures, routines, stories, and relationships to land and architecture that no longer exist in physical form, yet remain deeply present. These fragments are the shadows of the project, not literal traces, but lingering impressions that continue to shape memory and experience. Rather than focusing on destruction as an event, the project listens to what endures beyond it. It centers voices, memories, and stories shared by people in Gaza, found in the details of how life was lived and how space was inhabited. Scaling Tatreez Workshop with @juthouri 🗓 21.02.2026 · 13:00–16:00 📍 Bardo Projektraum @bardo_projektraum , Jessnerstraße 33, 10247 Berlin We invite you to the opening of ''Dreams That Wake'' exhibition on displacement and the subconscious taking place at Bardo projektraum by participating in a workshop! This is an experimental workshop transforming traditional Palestinian embroidery motifs into enlarged, sculptural forms. Participants engage with stories, sound, and cultural references from Gaza, translating narrative and identity into contemporary interpretations of tatreez. About your host: Tala Fasheh is a Palestinian/Jordanian architect and multidisciplinary designer currently based in Berlin. In October 2023, she founded Juthouri, an artist-led project created to support humanitarian efforts through creative practice, offering Tatreez workshops as well as custom artworks and design pieces inspired by traditional Palestinian embroidery patterns. Tala is also the Berlin Ambassador of Afikra, a pioneering global media and educational platform dedicated to advancing intellectual and cultural understanding of the Arab world.
