Prep is everything, I want to share something from a music video in the past - I hope this helps other DP's/ and filmmakers get better insight to a necessary part of the process.
I've included some frames from our location scout before the shoot, you will notice i draw all over these frames to illustrate the light quality id like, the direction of light is coming from, the placement of the subject in the frame, some things may change, but it gets me much further ahead when communicating to my team. I don't like leaving things to chance so often times me, the director, and gaffer will come to the location beforehand and run though the entire shotlist, and i'll take frames shots through the app artemis. we will discuss schedule based on where the sun will be, depending on where the sun is relative to the windows in the space and create schedule to where the sun isn't working against us - (so important to get the best look possible). ill report this info to my key grip, gaffer, and art department, and we will problem solve the to find the best solutions and get tacos after - It's a good time.
