Japanese hōhin (handleless teapot), possibly Meiji period.
Decorated in aka-e enamels over a crackled glaze. An accompanying note attributes the work to the Ōyama kiln, though I’m unsure of its exact origin (if anyone knows more about this style or kiln, I’d love to learn more).
Originally used for brewing delicate green teas such as gyokuro.

Last year, I had the opportunity to design a collection of shoes in collaboration with @sebago_world for @drakesdiary , inspired by the tones and textures of the West. Shot across Colorado and Utah. Canyons, Rockies, rivers, wild yellow flowers.

Drake’s by Nanga.
A collaboration with Japanese outdoor specialists Nanga, where a series of classic Drake’s pieces are reimagined in their signature down, translating technical mastery into clothing designed for real conditions — whether that’s up a mountain, out fishing, or just a cold January in the big city.

Small cup I bought from an antique dealer in Chinatown, San Francisco – maybe for sake or tea.
I watched films set in SF Chinatown growing up, so it was nice to walk through the streets, see the scale of the neighbourhood and the enormous Chinese community.
Always interesting to think about where objects like this come from, where they’ve travelled, and how they end up where they are.

Sake cup I picked up from my friends Terry and Keiko at their store Mogi in Tokyo – an incredible space I always love returning to, and where I inevitably learn something new. @mogi_folk_art@_terry_ellis_
