Hi
@vajohna 👀
Yup, we’re working on the reissues. Thank you for keeping Juno’s music alive in our long absence.
Now, for the long answer:
Years ago, when we were writing ‘A Future Lived In Past Tense,’ I had a strong sense it would be our last album. Hence, the title.
During the recording process, I worked hard to have the music and lyrics say certain things that I believed needed to be shared in our absence. Lotta long nights. Lotta words.
Or, to put it another way, I wanted to ensure that the songs could take on a life of their own, communicate certain ideas, find their way in the world, and become part of people’s lives—without us, without record labels, without radio, without media, without digital platforms, without handlers of any kind.
I wasn’t interested in success or notoriety. I was interested in art-making, word of mouth connections, and doing what I could to help folks make it through a day. The same way that Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Fugazi, Nina Simone, Bob Dylan, Hüsker Dü, and Talk Talk have helped many wayward souls, myself included, make it through a day.
One listener to another, each passing it along, saying, “Listen to this album, it might speak to you, perhaps for an hour, or perhaps for the rest of your life.”
I’m not against record labels, radio stations, or streamers. Not at all. Rather, I simply want to make art that has a chance of surviving by word of mouth alone, even if, and especially when those platforms are not part of the puzzle. Juno is not about spins earned or units sold. It’s about souls touched. Maybe that’s corny. Maybe it’s not. Either way, it’s the truth.
For those following this half-assed account, it should be clear I don’t care about trends, easy answers, Ai, IG, Spotify, big data, Big Brother, or constant convenience. I care about people.
Juno is art-music, intended to be shared between artists, weirdos, punks, squares, troubled animals, dank lurkers, and introverts. Juno was never intended to be popular music. It is from-the-heart-music, made for anyone who feels a connection with it. One moment and one listener at a time.
Thank you for your patience 🎶💜✨
