Fluxus inspired score exploring the soft mechanics of touch, ephemeral, and the slow fading of intimacy over time—how a gesture becomes trace, trace becomes memory, and how memory thins.
‘Studies in Surface and Stitch’ was designed, printed & bound by Junior Pacheco under OOO Press in conjunction with the UIC School of Design’s Summer Risograph Residency.
This edition explores pattern as a design language through Risograph-printed swatches referencing wallpaper and textile motifs. At its center is a hand-assembled quilt constructed entirely from printed paper fragments—pieced and stitched as a study in repetition, surface, and the visual logic of domestic ornament.
Bound together using a Singer sewing machine and printed using a Risograph duplicator on French Paper: Lemon Drop, Blu Raspberry, Pink Lemonade, Grapesicle & Jellybean Green (Pop-Tone, 65# cover)

Junior’s practice explores the intersection of digital and physical media, working through print, creative & analog technology, and craft. Rooted in curiosity and material exploration, their work balances tactile experimentation with contemporary design tools to create thoughtful, process-driven visual experiences. Junior is a current graduate student in our Graphic Design program.

Wondering what happens in the Print Lab during summer break?? We are excited to announce that the Print Lab will host the School of Design's Summer Risograph Residency 👀🖨️
We are inviting a Design student + faculty into the lab this summer for a month-long residency to produce a publication work on the risograph 🔵🟡🔴 Residents will have full reign over the lab to experiment & research while developing their skills in print & production 🦾 The residency will culminate in a book release event at the Open Archive in the Fall so that you all get a chance to see the beautiful work they made 📘📒📕
