JUNE TARANEH AHURAIAN — Personal Persia —
@junetaraneh
Personal Persia is a photographic journey into a homeland and a heritage that the artist can sense but never fully grasp. Growing up in Germany as the daughter of a German mother and an Iranian father, Ahuraian has never lived in nor visited Iran. Yet Persia is woven into her identity through stories, customs, and memories. In her photographs, Ahuraian gathers fragments of her origins that lie within reach — in Berlin, in her small hometown in Hessen, and at her core. Using an analog camera, she engages with her family’s history, reflects on cultural longing, and searches for an elusive homeland. She captures the moments that shape her vision of, and relationship to, Persia. Her very own Persia, collected from here.

“There is no person without a world,” writes the poet Anne Carson, referring to the intricate web of influences, events, and relationships that surrounds each human being. In the exhibition “No Person Without a World,” nine photographers examine the worlds that exist within and around us. Through intimate encounters – with places, people, stories, and themselves – the artists touch on a range of universal experiences, from loss and pain to love and companionship.
