During the year-long seminar held by @mirjanavrbaski at @ostkreuzschule_seminare , I developed the series "Personal Persia". It was on view at Bethanien Kreuzberg in the Group Exhibition "No Person Without a World" last week. Thank you Mirjana for guiding my project through the year in such a sensitive way and thank you @julia_kochanek for your beautiful curatorial advice. // Personal Persia is a photographic journey into a homeland and a heritage that the artist can sense but never fully grasp. Growing up in Germany as the daughter of a German mother and an Iranian father, Ahuraian has never lived in nor visited Iran. Yet Persia is woven into her identity through stories, customs, and memories. In her photographs, Ahuraian gathers fragments of her origins that lie within reach — in Berlin, in her small hometown in Hessen, and at her core. Using an analog camera, she engages with her family‘s history, reflects on cultural longing, and searches for an elusive homeland. She captures the moments that shape her vision of, and relationship to, Persia. Her very own Persia, collected from here.

I am immensely proud to present the exhibition of my first @ostkreuzschulefuerfotografie seminar ’No Person Without A World.’ We spent one year together, developing projects, getting to know each other, asking questions, and ultimately photographing our lives in all their touching complexity. Some moments from my trip through Ladakh and Kashmir in Northern India in April 2024. ..somewhere between the border of Pakistan and a frozen lake, that reaches into Tibet, the highest mountain pass of the world and Nubra Valley, an area where wild apricot trees grow on 3000m altitude.
