Next month, your friendly neighborhood Groove Therapy residents (me and @julzmovez__ ) will be joined by @manziii.music from @wearerooted.music . We’re excited to share decks with him, for several reasons. Manzi is among the Tahoe DJs who not only holds down the dance culture by organizing local events, but also tours the region, supporting music and dance communities across the West. His recent gigs have taken him to Reno, San Francisco, and Denver, and we’ve shared several all night renegades & festivals over the past few summers. He also organized and played the very first club gig that I played in Tahoe after moving here in 2022. After initially meeting on the dance floor at Rojo’s, we later discovered that we were next door neighbors, just a few days before he & his lady moved across town. That party he invited me to play ended up being the night he unboxed some new sound equipment, and I helped coin the moniker “Nicks at Night” to refer to him and @nhibit (who we hoped might be able to join us next month, and to whom Julz introduced me the very first night I ventured outside of employee housing after moving here). It’s a small world, after all! We’re excited to bring folks together again, play more dope music, and stand alongside another sick DJ who brings the vibe both on and off the decks. I’m excited to announce the next installment in the Groove Therapy series, featuring @ramboparty alongside me and co-resident @julzmovez__ at @sliceofsierrapizza on Saturday 4/11! We’ve hosted nearly half a dozen parties since last November, featuring a solid lineup of local and regional DJs including @for.a.moment.like.this @djdeonpearson @chucktyler_hp @mostephmusic & @nattynicest . Rambo is a consistent anchor of the house scene on the north side of the lake, so bringing him to South Lake after each of his predecessors feels a bit like completing a geographic puzzle! I most recently saw Rambo play the Western Lights festival in Reno, after a memorable New Year’s set at Crystal Bay Casino to ring in 2026 and an impressive renegade in Truckee last summer. He always brings an electric enthusiasm to the decks that shows up not only in his music, but also on the dance floor. As meteorologically disappointing as this snow season may have proven, it’s been equally musically inspiring. Last Saturday at @sliceofsierrapizza felt like a musical and social dream come true! DJing is as much about building community as it is about curating and mixing sick music, and the latest installment of Groove Therapy realized all those goals in abundance. As an event organizer & promoter, seeing so many friends meet their neighbors warmed my heart and lifted my spirit. Tahomies who I first met through the local snowboarding, poetry, dance, and martial arts communities all threw down together on the dance floor, and left with new connections and friends. It didn’t hurt to be motivated by some of my favorite selectors in the region. As a DJ, opening for my musical fairy godparents @mostephmusic & @nattynicest (who now live in Reno after many years in South Lake Tahoe) was one of my most exciting highlights of the year so far! It’s gonna be tough to top last weekend’s party, but that won’t stop us from trying.
