This is 40.
For my birthday, I decided to grow a pair...of wings! Took my first discovery flight back in May in Michigan, and was so inspired, I secretly have been hitting the Carson City airport since late June; training 4 days per week; timing my training out to land my first solo flight as the sun was rising on my 40th birthday. Flying the Sling 2 N288SL (a.k.a. the "Blueberry") alone in the cockpit was by far the most intense & incredible experience I've had in 4 decades on this rock.
There are no words that can describe what that feeling arises within you when you solo. But...if I were to try: it's an incredibly humbling experience that commands total respect of your surroundings, of your "angels", and of yourself. You are one with everything. You will know & trust yourself on the deepest of levels when everything -- inside & out -- is at stake, in your very own hands. Absolutely surreal.
A few more solo hours & some exams, and I'll be across the finish line -- license in-hand -- and ready to soar where the winds aloft of life intend to take me.
In the meantime, my birthday wish is for all of YOU to make the decision to take that first step & just GO for whatever has been calling you!! The first step is by far the hardest, but you 100% owe it to yourself to find out what's made you so curious from within. The treasures that await cannot wait to be discovered! They're always there for a reason...

At 40, I might be at the top of "the hill", but I'm sure as shit not rolling down the other side. Rather, I'm full-sending it right off that peak & into the skies!
