When taking portraits in a studio, especially on a plain background, there is only so much you can do to keep the composition creative and avoid falling into the classic pose of someone standing in the middle of the frame with a hand on their head. That is where the body itself becomes the composition.
This is something I teach in studio photography classes. Drawing inspiration from cinematography, I encourage changing angles, climbing stairs, sitting on the floor, thinking in terms of field sizes, and cropping boldly.
This way, even if you have 5 minutes to improvise, like in this case, you'll end up with a nice series of photos.
