There’s something about a live room — no safety net, just songs and people.
I wanted to document that.
A new live album is coming March 13.

If you’ve ever been to a show, this one’s for you.
Friends — I wanted to personally invite y’all out to a really special evening on Sunday, May 24th at Sing Acoustic Lounge here in Portland.
We’re gonna be celebrating Ozark Original live with the full album band:
David Lipkind on harmonica
Andy Emert on fiddle
Peter “Spud” Siegel on mandolin
Truth is, we rarely all get together in the same room these days, so this is gonna be a mighty special night.
We’ll be playing songs from the record, telling stories behind the tunes, and sharing an evening of old-school folk, country, bluegrass, and Americana music together.
If you’ve spent time with Ozark Original since it came out back in March, this is the night to come hear it breathe live.
And if you’ve never been to Sing Acoustic before — it’s one of the finest little listening rooms around. Beautiful sound, intimate space, and only 60 seats available.
Sunday, May 24
5–7 PM

Friends — on Sunday, May 24th, we’re bringing Ozark Original to life for one special evening @singacoustic .
This is the full album band — the same crew that helped make these songs what they are: David Lipkind on harmonica, Andy Emert on fiddle, and Peter “Spud” Siegel on the mandolin. I don't think this lineup has ever appeared in public, so this will be one mighty special night.
We’ll be playing songs from Ozark Original front to back, telling some stories behind the tunes, and maybe even bringing out a surprise guest or two along the way.
If you’ve spent time with this record since it came out in March, this is the night to come hear it breathe.

There are some musicians who don’t just play notes — they carry history in their hands. That’s how I feel about Andy Emert.
Andy brought the fiddle to the Ozark Original album in a way that completely transformed these songs. His playing has that rare balance of grit and grace — old-time soul, Texas swing fire, and the kind of instinct you only get from decades of living inside the music. Every line he played felt like another voice in the story.
Around the Pacific Northwest, Andy is a quiet legend. He’s shared stages with incredible players over the years, played countless dances, festivals, sessions, and late-night jams, and has become one of those musicians other musicians talk about with deep respect. You would never know it, but Andy has won all the fiddle contests around these parts, and when Andy picks up the fiddle, the room changes.
What I love most is that he never overplays. He listens. He serves the song. Then suddenly he’ll slide into a phrase that sounds like it drifted in from 1948 on the midnight radio.
I’m beyond grateful he believed in this record enough to lend his heart and talent to it. The warmth, movement, and spirit you hear throughout Ozark Original owes so much to Andy’s touch.
A true craftsman. A true gentleman. One of the finest fiddlers and humans I know.
Thank you, Andy. ❤️🎻
I still can’t quite believe I got Spud Siegel playing mandolin on Ozark Original.
Spud is the real deal — one of those musicians who has dedicated his life to the craft and carries the tradition forward while still sounding completely like himself. His mandolin playing is tasteful, rhythmic, inventive, and full of heart. Every time he stepped into a song on this record, it gained color, motion, and soul.
For years, Spud has been a beloved figure in the Northwest roots and bluegrass scene from Canon Beach to White Salmon, Doc Snock to David Grisman and his own Floating Glass Balls, sharing music with incredible bands and musicians and earning the respect of just about everyone who’s crossed paths with him. He’s the kind of player who can drive a tune hard when it needs it, then turn around and play something delicate enough to break your heart.
And beyond the musicianship, he brought so much joy and spirit into the making of this album. The sessions felt lighter, warmer, and more alive with him in the room. That energy matters. You can hear it in the record.
I wanted Ozark Original to feel timeless — like old front porch music meeting the stories I carry with me now — and Spud helped make that vision real.
Truly one of my favorite musicians and one of the finest mandolin players around.
Thank you, Spud. ❤️🪕
If you’ve listened to Ozark Original, you’ve already heard the soul of David Lipkind woven all through it.
David has this unbelievable ability to make a harmonica sing like a human voice. Sometimes lonesome, sometimes joyful, sometimes haunting — but always honest. His playing on this record brought a whole new emotional depth to these songs that I honestly couldn’t have imagined before we started recording.
He’s one of those rare musicians who seems fluent in every corner of American roots music. Folk, blues, bluegrass, old-time, country — David doesn’t just know the language, he speaks it naturally. Over the years he’s played with incredible artists.. You've heard him here in Portland with Portland Country Underground, Casual Eddie, the Dynafonics among others.. He’s toured extensively, was hired by Loretta Lynn, and built a reputation as one of the most expressive and versatile harmonica players around.
But beyond all that, he’s just the kind of musician you dream of working with: deeply musical, deeply kind, and always listening for what the song needs. There were moments in the studio where David would lay down a single harmonica line and suddenly the whole track came alive.
That’s the magic of a true master.
I’m incredibly honored to have him on this album and proud to call him a friend. His fingerprints are all over this project, and Ozark Original is better because of him.
Thank you, David. ❤️🎶
Hey y'all. I've been invited to read in support of the release of Ozark Original, the debut full length record from JT Trawick. It's happening over at Sing Acoustic, one of those rare rooms where songs land a little heavier and stories get treated right.
The kind of work I tend to write and JT's brand of Ozark folk and bluegrass all come from the same weathered country. Same worn down roads, same hard humor, same attempts to find grace in places most folks drive past without noticing.
Nights like this remind me how close poems and songs really are. Like kin across the holler with dousing water at the ready.
Come on out. Support JT and friends. Buy a record. Buy a book. Buy a bourbon.
