New series from us. Artist of the week! We want to share and expose local artists here in Denver and other worth creatives and give them much deserved recognition for their work. As a collective as we grow we will be striving to serve our artists however we First up is @jsynical 1. How long have you been creating or performing music?
Ive been creating music since I’ve been a kid. My brothers are a real inspiration for that as they’ve got me into doing music at a young age. The first time I picked up a bass was when I was in 5th grade and I decided to go into Orchestra when I started middle school.
2. What’s a piece of advice you’d tell your 13 - 14 year old self?
Keep doing what you love and your path in life will be revealed. No need to focus on specifics.
3. What inspires you to keep making music?
What inspires me to keep creating in general is the general peace it brings me to bring what was once nonexistent into the world!
4. What’s your favorite thing about Colorado?
My favorite thing about Colorado is it humbles you. The weather, the people, the overall experience. Hiking your first mountain will be the most challenging and stressful thing but at the top you’ll love the perspective. Just stay on the paths and say hello to passerby’s.
@gypsylabsessions . I remember when this all started as an idea in the basement of a coffee shop. To me, it was an opportunity to play music, an opportunity to express myself through the one medium I knew little about but was eager to learn more about.
Not only has this given me the ability to grow as an artist it has also challenged me to learn and work with so many people in our community. The amount of creativity and passion I’ve witnessed is astounding!!

April 17th will be a bittersweet send off ❤️ please join us to celebrate our last City Records Open Mic at the OG City Records 🥹
Y’all. This was a hard and bittersweet post to make. After three years of living on Colfax, building our lil shop into more than a shop, but a living breathing hub for community, the original City Records is closing its doors in May.
This was not an easy decision to make, and while we are saddened that this is how our time on Colfax is ending, we are lucky and excited to be opening elsewhere later this summer. Please stay tuned for details and where to find us in the meantime ❤️
What this place means to all of us is immeasurable. Its influence ripples thru our community, and will last lifetimes. Countless relationships built, art created, music made, lives celebrated. Artists selling their art for the first time, musicians performing for the first time, people finding their voice for the first time. We are so grateful to have been an integral piece of all of this and are so grateful to have been in your lives. Keep visiting us while we are open, reach out if you’re interested in collaborating in the meantime because we are still very much here. We love you so much Colfax and our budding community ❤️
