Just vibes and a whole lot of history. Where the sky leans heavy, and time stands still beneath quiet domes.

The One Where This Chapter Concludes
In life, we invest significant amounts of time writing various chapters of our lives. Some of these stories are short-lived. While others span years in the making.
I spent the last decade or so writing a very beautiful chapter of my life. I stepped out of my comfort zone and ventured into something vastly unknown to me in 2011. Although there were uncertainties and fears, I had nothing to lose. And that paved the way for many opportunities which opened numerous doors for me. Thankful for them all, as always.
Sometime around December 2020, I switched this personal Instagram account of mine into a professional account - jsscreatives. And oh my, that was one of the best decisions I’ve made in life. But now, I’ve decided to quit doing commissioned works, design projects etc and just focus on personal projects. Of course, not forgetting my new venture - @sattakaarasaami
In Tamil, there's a saying..."போதும் என்ற மனமே போன் செய்யும் மருந்து."
Loosely translated, it means "A contented heart is an elixir of happiness." And at this point, I am genuinely happy and content with what I have achieved in the last ten years with regards to design, typography and anything marginally creative. It's been a healthy high this past one year and I feel that this is a great space to be in to take the final bow before I move on to craft the next chapter of my life.
Part of the journey is the end, right?
So, what does the next chapter hold? Something far more permanent in my life. And if you thought this chapter was beautiful, the next one is going to be even more beautiful. Well, at least that’s the hope.
At this point, I just want to prioritise some other things in life and it’s about time I did. We only have so much time and this time, I have something to lose. I mean, everyone wants their own version of a happy ending, right? And here I am going in the search of mine.
Thank you for all the constant love and support that you’ve shown me.
It has been truly a pleasure.
Always with love,
JSS
It’s taken some time to gather all these designs and curate them. But I’m glad I eventually got around to doing it though some motivation was necessary. It felt like a walk down memory lane. Each and every single one holds a story. It’s kinda like my very own storybook. Just that it holds no words. Just one design after another.
The truth is, though, I’m not a designer.
Over the last 10-11 years, I’ve done a variety of paid projects, commissioned work, pro bono projects and other sorts of design related work. But, sometimes it’s the simplest and silliest of things which I work on for fun that just liberates me. Allowing me to just create and express without much hesitation. A few do like my work. While others not so much.
Does that mean I should stop expressing or creating? I’ve long pondered this. Are you only allowed to do it if and when you’re good at it? What exactly defines being good at something? Years of practice? Must I have a paper qualification to do what I do? Do I need to climb some mountain and attain nirvana before I can wield the golden stylus? What is it?
I don’t know.
Will I ever stop? Yes, I will. As spontaneously as I picked it up, one day I will stop as spontaneously. I will come full circle.
Until then,
To those who like my work, thank you.
To those who don’t, a bigger thank you.
Yours lovingly,
JSS
