Recently I've been: seeing a lot of Yosemite posts, (really) liking this song from @lukaschiang , and missing the trip I went on almost half a year ago now.. so I thought I'd re-edit some footage from that trip!
Some stems from the latest narrative commercial spec I did the sound design for!
1. Music + Dialogue
2. Sound Effects
3. Full Mix
I was presenting my work at Creative Night a few weeks ago when one of the hosts (ty @broziah !) suggested a great idea of doing a side-by-side carousel of the different stems to show how sound design can really elevate a video.
(I like to approach sound design by doing ambiance sounds first, then diegetic sounds, and then non-diegetic sounds that add texture and depth.)

Practicing Sound Design | Pt. 4 - Stories in Every Piece
Here are some stills + a timeline breakdown from the narrative commercial spec I recently did the sound for!
Half a year ago, my project timeline would have tons of video layers but only a few audio layers. Now, it's the other way around, and it's really made a difference in my editing. Don't be like me and neglect sound..
Thank you again @duffyboat for the opportunity and for taking a chance on me! This was such a fun project to work on~
“Stories in Every Piece” - a HomeGoods spec commercial
I had a ton of fun working on the sound design for this narrative commercial film! Huge shoutout to @duffyboat for bringing me on and for taking a chance on me.
My goal is to work on films that make people feel something - whether as the editor or sound designer (or both 👀) - and this project was an amazing opportunity to practice just that.
Big shoutouts to @jordan_orme and @zachanaya as well for helping me shape my understanding of sound design into what it is today. It’s honestly criminal that I didn't start practicing sound sooner 💀(but better late than never).

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to meet most of the crew, but y’all killed it on this one! I’m honored to have been a part.

I've been seeing incredible photos on my feed as of late, and it's inspired me to start taking more photos - even if it's just with my phone..
Here are some of my favorite photos I took during my trip to Yosemite a few months ago~ It's a start 😅
#yosemite
Last month, I went on a trip to Yosemite with two guys I had just met.
And I'm glad I took a chance on two awesome guys I had yet to really meet.

Practicing Sound Design | Pt. 3 - MYST x MUSTI Creative Challenge
Here are some stills + a timeline breakdown of my most recent project!
My main focus with this challenge was to work on getting a more "full" sound. My sounds lacked a lot of impact on the lower end and got muddy in the higher ends. This project helped me get a much better grasp of sound mixing, and I'm happy with my progress!
My submission for the #mystchallenge: The Craft
@mystmmxx@mustiymk
This was a great opportunity to experiment with sick footage and a challenging, yet fun prompt! I've been spending the past few weeks on this and have had a ton of fun~
Practicing Sound Design | Pt. 2 - Always Keep Going
Experimenting with sound design sequences and sound effects that complement the song.
What I Learned: Enable "Show Audio Time Units" in Premiere to line up your sfx exactly where you want them. I can't believe I never knew about that setting before..
Practicing Sound Design | Pt.1 - Explore the Alps.
I love nature :D and would love to visit the Alps someday.
What I learned: Use more than one sound for a single sound effect (like for whooshes/ambiance tracks), and layer your sounds!
