When I was very young I became a student under the tutelage of Sensei Tommy Kwan. My parents wanted me to learn how to stand up for myself. I began to flourish under his guidance. My formative years were built on respect, discipline and sparring with the older kids at Rising Sun Karate. I remember how excited I was to show my Grandad my katas when he visited from America.
To be honest, I’ve been nervous about this one.
