Magic happens when you trust the process and execute consistently. . I made a 4 minute video on the goal setting and planning process I’ve evolved over 15 years of experimentation.  I’ve been executing it consistently for the past 5 years and it feels magical to read the parts of my vision that I’ve already realized.  It also creates massive confidence that the remaining pieces I want to execute will be achieved, even if they feel scary hard and challenging at this very moment. . I’d love to hear what methods you’re using to plan and achieve your goals. . If you’re still looking for a good method, borrow mine as a starting point.  It’s straightforward and takes far less time than you’d think once the initial planning is done. . What’s your take on breakfast?   For me a nutritious, energizing breakfast means I just won the first half of my day.   I’m covered till lunch which means midnight to noon (50% of the day!) are powered only by healthy fuel.  Nutrition literally is the building block for everything : physical performance, mental performance, energy levels, mood, and of course long term health.   Plus, a consistent breakfast is a productivity hack:  one less decision to worry about every day.  . There’s tons of ways to do healthy breakfast.  I pick the smoothie.  It’s delicious, healthy, can be prepared in advance, and taken on the go (anyone else have mornings that feel busy or rushed  sometimes?)   My recipe has a good blend of protein, carbs, and (healthy) fats.  Translation – My body gets the key building blocks it needs, I’m getting a balanced diet and I’m preventing blood sugar spikes.  Plus, lots of micronutrients, anti-oxidants, and other healthy stuff to promote performance and long term health.  . Check out this video to see how I make my smoothie.  Watch till the end for a full ingredient list.  Quantities suggested are usually enough for 2 – 3 days of breakfast for me.  Pro Tip : a @blendtec or @vitamix blender is well worth the investment – they last forever (15 years and still going strong) and make an extra smooth smoothie even when you load them up with “tough stuff” like frozen fruits, nuts, etc. . Sky Drift is an 800-acre regenerative farm that serves as the flagship ranch for Capra Foods, supplier of lamb to Whole Foods, H-E-B, Central Market, Butcher Box, and many others. It was a really special experience to tour the varied terrain across 800 acres, including meeting the lambs (not sure if I was more curious about them, or them about me!) What started as a farm based on regenerative agriculture (a farming principle where Nature’s rhythms naturally replenish soil health and promote biodiversity as well as nutrient dense plant life) is evolving to a farm first hospitality experience. Normalize socializing and connecting over movement : walk, hike, yoga, workout class - whatever suits your fancy. 6:30 a.m. yoga may not be for everyone, but damn the view is sweet and the relationships you nurture are stronger than what you’ll build over generic coffee / drinks / meal meetup. . Q: How do I live a (more) healthy lifestyle? A: Spend more time doing healthy things with people who value health. Sure, there’s more to it, but spending time with health minded people goes much farther than you think! Plus, it opens doors to all the rest of the answers you may be needing. Here’s a snapshot of how the Pay It Forward Men’s Health this past weekend came together. 1 – My friend @jennbpinkerton encourages and collaborates with me on hosting the June Regulate & Restore Retreat. 2 - @lindsitoomey attends and offers her team from @jbarmbbq to help support an upcoming luncheon. 3 - @jbarmbbq sends the leadership contingent (@charlestoomey and @hoffiehope4ec ) to the luncheon to make things amazing, which turns into an impromptu cold plunge /sauna / pool workouts. 4 - That experience inspires @hoffiehope4ec to propose and help organize the Pay It Forward Men’s Health event with a special menu from J Bar M BBQ. 5 – This past Saturday, I hosted the Pay It Forward Men’s Health event, a half day micro retreat with awesome workouts, cold plunge, sauna, and elevated food in a relaxed environment, gifted to a small group of health minded guys in the name of paying it all forward! . I’m sharing all this to say two things : . First, I wanted the chance to brag on my friends a little bit as the blessings they’ve given me has given me the inspiration and energy to pay it forward to others. . Second, just a reminder that there are a lot of good people in your community right now and all you have to do is find one of them and start showing up and you’d be amazed what can happen from there. .
