Yesterday’s stop at Coiba Island, @expedicioncoiba , a spectacular marine reserve. The island, a penal colony until 2000, is now home to capuchin monkeys and Tito, a 16-foot crocodile. Our afternoon snorkel yielded turtles, many schools of fish, anemones and a couple of white-tipped sharks. Then rain. LOTS of rain.
Lunch, provided by the Islas Secas most gracious staff (Chef Katie rocks), on Pargo Island after a morning fishing expedition with Capt Juan and Narciso (strictly catch and release). @islassecas
Breakfast of eggs, carne criolla (that’s ropa vieja to you Cubans) and a delicious Panamanian fried bread called hojarte. Of course, served up with a stunning view of the bay off Isla Cavada, where this gorgeous Islas Secas property sits.
A Saturday night wedding, seen from my balcony at the American Trade Hotel, that lasted until the wee hours. This was everyone emptying the church and walking across the street for the reception. At about 4 am I woke to realize the honeymoon couple was right next door. Nuff said...
