Hungry Ghosts’ first full length LP, recorded in the Summer of ‘96/97 at Birdland Studios, produced by Rowland S. Presented by @efficient_space Tix👉 https://ra.co/events/2215401 - A pedal steel devotee + pioneer of the instrument in non-country contexts, @gflee moved to the UK in the mid 80s as a member of @thetriffids The band were cast as players on Bill Drummond’s solo album The Man, while Lee’s pedal steel famously haunts the KLF’s totemic ambient record Chill Out. @jp_shilo first appeared on the scene in the 90s with his moody instrumental band Hungry Ghosts, who quickly captured the attention of Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley. Since then, the multi-instrumentalist/producer has become highly sought after, with many sleights of hand, his unique approach and “outside of the box” techniques have led many to consider him the “go to” man - helping to create the sounds for many Oz music luminaries albums, including Rowland S. Howard, Adalita, Mick Harvey and Tropical Fuck Storm. A true genre-defying shape-shifter. Shilo & Lee first crossed paths in 2008, presenting A Secret in the Shape of a Song (in tribute to Triffids’ leader, the Late David McComb) as part of the Sydney Festival. Since then the pair have served as long serving members of the Blackeyed Susans and through years of collaborating together, developed a subtle and intuitive sonic interplay, complementing each other’s sounds to form a unique and unified textural whole.
