... DETAILS Peter Downsbrough “TWO PIPES have precision like a metronome with an infinitely variable rhythm. Fixed in place, the appearance of their position constantly changes according to our proximity, backdrop, and angle (...) the view will always be different”. ... Düsseldorf... New York City... Gerry Johansson’s portfolio Coast to Coast is on view at the LARGE GLASS Booth B21, AIPAD The Photography Show, Park Avenue Armory, NYC, until Sunday 27... today !!!! In March 1983, Johansson set out on a photographic odyssey, traveling from Los Angeles to New York meeting photographers, publishers, and editors along the way. Using a large-format 8×10 camera, he processed his contact prints at night in motels along his route. The resulting work follows in the footsteps of his photographic predecessors but shifts the focus from street photography to the vast American landscape and its layered human geography. @largeglassgallery @gerryjohansson Photo: © Gerry Johansson, Los Angeles, California, USA, 1983

... AM MÜHLENKAMP Laurenz Berges "The photographs made by Laurenz Berges afford us once and again encounters with deserted, often inhospitable places, places whose banal reality we tend not to notice. The photos selected for this portfolio were taken by him at the place where the artist couple Bernd and Hilla Becher lived (...) after the studio Am Mühlenkamp had been cleared of all but a few remnants, Laurenz Berges roamed the silent rooms and captured with his large-format camera relics, traces, and aspects that, now separated from the context that had breathed life into them, nevertheless still express something typical about what once took place here. Like an archaeologist, he reveals to us clues to the past (...) Laurenz Berges’ photographs give a new twist to this abandoned place that had been used for decades. Nothing passes without a trace, seems to be Laurenz Berges’s thesis as he investigates the form and substance of what is abandoned and left behind, finding a unique visual language that allows him to elicit an unconventional kind of beauty from the sight." (Gabriele Conrath-Scholl) AM MÜHLENKAMP by Laurenz Berges is on view at Projektbüro DFI e.V. – Eiskellerberg 1, Düsseldorf 8 PROJECTS: FROM LANDSCAPE TO INTERIOR March 28 – April 27, 2025 @towards.photography @laurenzberges
