👂PERFORMER PROFILES👂 We’d like to introduce you to the Ear Transplant musicians who will perform at Ascent - our next event at @metronomen_frb on the 13th of April. Featuring endurance tests for the musicians, extremity in instrumental register and a staircase in the middle of the audience, Ascent is a concert of constant upwards momentum. 2. @antonios_akrivopoulos - Antonios is a Greek flautist who is focusing on contemporary music performance and chamber music. In his creative work he aims to collaborate with composers and expand the contemporary flute repertoire. As well as finding new ways of sonic and visual expression of said music.  3. Karin Viktoria Jakobsson - Karin is a Classical pianist whose musical interests span a wide range of styles and concert formats, performing both as a soloist and chamber musician. Karin likes to blend classical traditions with contemporary music, creating programs that connect the old with the new. She enjoys reimagining the concert experience, whether through improvisation, theatrical performances or innovative programming.  4. @matthewgrouse - Matthew Grouse is a composer and performer, originally from Yorkshire (UK), now living in Copenhagen. He enjoys interdisciplinarity and searching for the latent musicality in the everyday. At ascent, Matthew will be playing guitar. 5. @joss__smith - Joss is a Welsh composer and performer. Joss has a performance background as a classical clarinettist and now combines this with a curiosity towards performativity and non-traditional uses of instruments. As a composer, Joss is particularly interested in using expectation and repetition to build tension and create unpredictable musical forms. Joss will be singing, playing recorders and piano on Ascent as well as premiering his work, ‘to greater and greater heights’. - Concert at 19:30. 👂PERFORMER PROFILES 👂 We’d like to introduce you to the Ear Transplant musicians who will perform at our launch event on the 21st of January at @h15scenestudio 2. @thorhildurm - Þórhildur Magnúsdóttir is a violist and performer from Iceland, based between Copenhagen and Reykjavík. Equally at home with new, experimental music and free improvisation, she actively seeks interdisciplinary collaboration with artists from various fields. Photo credit: @kajasigvalda 3. @asgeirssonjonas - Jónas Ásgeir Ásgeirsson is an accordionist and performer based in Copenhagen, originally from Reykjavík (IS). He enjoys playing with the boundaries of instrumental performance as well as creating musical narratives. As a core member of Ear Transplant, he will be playing accordion(s) and other instruments, as well as exploring extra-instrumental performance. 4. @joss__smith - Joss Smith, originally from Wales and living in Copenhagen, is a composer and performer who works within various media, ranging from purely sound orientated works to electronic music, instrumental theatre and performance art. As well as performing at our launch on clarinet, organ, glockenspiel, voice and more (!) we’ll also premiere his new work ‘for the birds’ 5. @matthewgrouse - Matthew Grouse is a composer and performer, originally from Yorkshire (UK), now living in Copenhagen. He enjoys interdisciplinarity and searching for the latent musicality in the everyday. As well as performing at our launch on electric guitar, live electronics, voice and accordion, we’ll also perform his work ‘Do this, do that… but not that and not quite yet”, which was commissioned by @sporfestival and premiered by Duo Van Vliet in 2024 We’re really excited to share the stage for the first time in this new constellation and to dive into some fascinating music. Introducing Ear Transplant 👂 Based in Copenhagen (DK), Ear Transplant, led by composers @joss__smith and @matthewgrouse , is a brand new organisation for contemporary music and interdisciplinary art with five key goals: 1. To invoke a sense of wonder for our audiences 2. To bring music to Denmark that our audiences have never experienced before 3. To contribute to and build a community spirit within the contemporary music field 4. To support up-and-coming artists and commission the most exciting local composers 5. To pursue each aspect of the concert/event experience with a painstaking level of care Ear Transplant is somewhere between a concert production platform and an ensemble, with 4 core performing members as well as a rotating pool of musicians and collaborators, all of whom specialise in contemporary music performance and experimental art-making.
