Interesting article in today’s Sunday Independent - Newspaper by Roslyn Dee 🇮🇪
Very minded of the week, that’s been and the hardship.
Chatting with people in industry and they are telling me, about the very high rates of depression, severe stress and suicides in Construction, Farming, Fishing & Transport industries in Ireland;
🔅 Construction; 97 % are feeling stressed, 22% have experienced suicidal thoughts, 6 % have attempted suicide.
🔅Farming: 50% suffer from moderate to severe depression & 8 % rate of suicides in Ireland and 22.8% are at risk of depression.
🔅Fisheries; 90.6% are stressed & worried about their livelihood and future prospects and Fishing is 37 x times more likely to have a fatal accident, than a general worker
🔅 Transport Sector: make up a 1/3rd of all work injuries and 94% reported being stressed and/ or verbally abused )
We simply need to look after fellow brothers & sisters … employees and employers- in the sectors.
🌿 FRIENDSHIP 🌿
I believe it is one of God’s greatest gifts to us—whether for a fleeting moment, a season of years, or
a lifetime.
Friends bring balance. They bring consolation and hope. They provide good company, and
great humour that lifts the soul.
They offer support and wise counsel when it is needed most.
They are an extra pair of hands— in the emotional or practical sense of the meaning.
When life turns difficult, they show up.
They help carry you through the hard days, stand beside you in the mess, and rise with you—ready
to move forward again.
Sometimes friendship takes effort. Sometimes it simply flows.
But always—it is a gift worth cherishing.
Because you never know when you will need your best buddy… or that group of pals.
Cherish them.
Poor Fishermen, 1966 no. Irish trawler boats are now paying an extra €1000-€1500 for fuel per fuel load to go out to work.. not viable for some coastal fishing families.
Hopefully our Government take action and help those in Agriculture, Fishing, Production and Transport. 🇮🇪🇮🇪
Past a petrol station earlier today and it’s €2.30 per litre of diesel 😳😳
Home heating oil has doubled
We are very proud to be partnered with @foodcloud to help reduce food waste in Ireland and redistributing food that would otherwise be wasted.
Last year, we saved 483,210 kgs of surplus food- going to waste and were able to redistribute this vital resource as humanitarian aid, to cook delicious & nutritious meals to the people we serve.
1,121 tons of CO2 saved.
Thank you to @foodcloud for the ongoing support and together we’ll reduce food waste.
