How We Do // Newlyweds Photographs The newlyweds photographs tend to take place during your reception. Ideally, we’d like at minimum 20 minutes. We walk, we talk, we shoot all the in-between. We will give you some guidance so that you don’t suddenly forget how your arms work but for the most part, it’s a lot of chatting (from us) and making you feel comfortable. What you’ll end up with is photographs that feel like ‘you’ and were fun to boot. If your wedding is in the middle of summer, we may only do 5-10 minutes of photographs in the middle of the day, saving the rest for when the sun has dipped a little and gives off prettier light. If you’re having a winter wedding, we may suggest going straight out shortly after your ceremony to make the most of the light we have. When there is an outrageous sunset, we’re letting you know about it. It’s completely optional, but you won’t regret it if you come along. It’ll take 10 minutes of your day and is so worth it :) All of our couples say that the couples session ended up being one of their favourite parts of their day. It’s a real chance to have that ‘oh my’ moment away from your guests. So while it is completely normal to be nervous about it in the run up, we can guarantee it will be one of the easiest bits of your day :) “We were so reluctant to leave the party for some sunset photos but my god are we glad we did. Glasgow Subway for the Win Series from the vault here, which you can probably tell if you’re from Glasgow - remember our old shoogly subway trains? Venachar Lochside Wedding Speeches Just a little carousel of the time Lucy had all her guests in bits with her beautiful speech. Even us. Sly dog Lucy, sly dawwwwwg. In other news, right as Lucy was about to start her speech I surreptitiously slid past her in the background, walked through a low hanging spider, saw said giant spider swinging towards me and played it cool by flailing round and running in the opposite direction. WEST Brewery Summer Wedding Laura and Dave were treated to an absolute scorcher of a day for their summer wedding at WEST Brewery, coinciding with the National Piping Championships, no less. And before you ask… no, the sound of thousands of bagpipes didn’t carry into the day at all. Credit to WEST’s walls for that! Annnnnyway, sound AF Laura + Dave had hoped to visit the Barras for some photographs, so we made sure to build that into their timeline, the best opportunity being in the evening. In total, we were away from their guests for around 40 minutes, including the time it took to get there, visit a few spots, and head back. It’s not something we’d usually recommend during the daytime reception, as it could make you feel a bit rushed. However, that post-dinner, pre-dancing window often allows for a little more flexibility if that’s something you’re keen for! These are the kinds of details we plan carefully in the lead-up, helping our couples get the most out of their wedding day timeline. It can be really nice to steal away for a moment after your wedding dinner… just the two of you (and us, of course!). Confetti Tips! We’ve photographed a lot of confetti runs, but we’ve never actually been the main subjects of one ourselves. I imagine it’s a pretty surreal experience having thousands of tiny bits of paper thrown at you, or being pelted with handfuls of flowers (sometimes quite enthusiastically, depending on your guests). One thing we do know... they are always great fun! Top confetti tips; - You can never have too much confetti. Cannons also welcome! If you go for cannons, make sure the folk using them fire them ahead of you rather than behind - Slow down (for your photographer walking backwards if for nothing else) - Head up! Look around, look at each other, look anywhere but at your feet - You will probably eat confetti, we will definitely photograph that happening - S l o w d o w n (worth saying twice :D) Got any top confetti tips?
