After two years of development, we are finally launching our @seedandspark campaign for Yo No Soy Mi Mamá this Tuesday. This project started in 2023. @bettyboomboom67 and we’ve have been pushing nonstop to make this film happen. We won a grant from @wifpdx (Thank You!!!) in December 2023. Now, with your support, we move into production this November. This story is for the children of immigrants. For the oldest daughters. For the messy, proud, layered experience of being Mexican-American. We’re not asking permission. We’re making this on our terms. To access the funds, we need to raise 30% in the first week and 80% in 30 days. If you have a Seed & Spark account, follow the campaign as soon as we launch. It’s free and helps us build momentum. ‼️‼️Our @seedandspark campaign for Yo No Soy Mi Mamá is officially live‼️‼️ We’ve been working on this film since 2023. We’ve gotten one grant, built the team, shot concept footage, and now we need you to help us cross the finish line and get us into production! This story centers 15-year-old Ale, a Mexican-American teen trying to go to her favorite band’s show. Despite her mom’s strict religious rules. It’s about rebellion, identity, and breaking cycles with a pair of scissors and a whole lot of guts. We’re making this for the oldest daughters. For all the teen misfits. For Mexican-American girls who never got to see themselves on screen unless they were surviving something traumatic. Our director, @bettyboomboom67 , is offering her original artwork as an incentive. It’s stunning. Her art is funding her film and that’s the kind of creative ecosystem we believe in. • Lesson from the Oregon Coast. Do not expect any café or restaurant to cater a crew of 40 on Father’s Day weekend.
• The Solve = Safeway fried chicken and charcuterie for “dinner.” I hand assembled 100 shrimp and jerk chicken skewers and grilled in the middle of the night for the team. Redemption. (sort of)
• You feed people. You keep morale up.

Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to work on the feature film Test Screening directed by @clarktbaker . It was my first time working on a union film, and I’m thrilled to share that I made my days and joined IATSE Local 488 as a Production Office Coordinator. One of the highlights was being an Oregon Pathways mentor to two amazing individuals. We’ve collaborated on various projects since, and they’ve become cherished friends. 🖤 The entire production, cast, and crew made Test Screening a truly special and magical experience.
