Hit a couple milestones Friday. I begin my first ever workshop series I’ve been planning for a few months with @sayplaydetroit & @stockx where we teach students about design & how to produce and their own apparel.
I also moderated my first ever panel thanks to @blacktechsaturdays (and @leaux_____ ) for thinking of me for this. The Digital Empowerment Summit was great. I was happy to speak with two Detroit designers who continue to push the boundaries of fashion in their own regards.
First You’re Crazy, Then You’re Genius — A One Night Installation Curated by myself & brought to life by the genius of Detroit artists @oshun_williams , @triceclark , @saint.greer and @therealkirahp .
The original concept behind this mantra was about people who work to perfect their craft and are seemingly crazy, until proven genius. This night is not only about my journey as a creative, but others who are on similar paths.
I hope to see you next Friday, September 12th at @playdetroit from 7pm-10pm.
Extremely grateful to have been able to work on this album. Hard to put it into words really. Thank you @mikecarson & @bigsean for trusting me with such a special project — Photography & Creative Direction by @mikecarson

Detroit, At The Center of It All, is now available via jonxgenius.com — This design was inspired by historic moments in Detroit that impacted not only this city but the entire nation.
From being a path to freedom and migrating for better opportunities, to fighting for our rights and freedoms we have today. They made way for us to create and cultivate the culture we love so much about this city.
Everything is connected and Detroit has been at the center of it all.

This year I wanted to complete a story I’ve been building for a few releases now. Detroit has been the focal point to so many historical moments thanks to the contributions of our ancestors.
From the Underground Railroad, to the Civil Rights Movement to the automotive industry to pop culture. Detroit has been At the Center of it All.
We’re Home to the Black Experience. I can’t wait to share more with you for this year’s release Friday ✌🏾
313 day has always been important. To us it’s about saying thank you to the community for the continued support. To celebrate please Join us next Friday for a FREE screen printing workshop! Bring any garment you have and we’ll teach you to screen print it ! We will also have some loose shirts as well.
Honored and excited to continue providing resources with @jonxgenius for another 313 day.
Join us @robyn.detroit from 5-8PM
Everyone knows I’m a designer, right? Well I think the perception these days has become that I only design for myself. And while I love my personal projects, I’ve always been dedicated to helping others bring a vision to life.
It’s always been a bit challenging to find that balance between the two though, & it can also be a bit overwhelming when you face the projects you’ve done. The past feels further and further away and sometimes it can be scary to think about what’s ahead.
But I know my best work is ahead of me, and I want to put myself out there again (in a different way). I’ve said it over and over, but I’m finally promoting myself (as a designer lol) again. Cause it’s been waaay too long.
So if the work is real and serious. Feel free to reach out. Let’s make an impact together.
Design is at the center of nearly everything I do, but what’s most important are the people that support my work. This year I made it a goal to be more intentional about building community through the work and extending the knowledge and platform I have to the people who show up for me.
Which birthed the idea, “I Think You’re Genius Too” — not only a pop up by an interactive and creative mixer to bring people together, share knowledge and grow our community.
We’ll have some cool programming courtesy of @tcbdet and some exclusives from myself. Meet us at @themarketat2529orleans February 6th, 7pm—12am. Hope to see you soon ✌🏾
