It was a very special and emotional privilege to host an historic global first this morning at the London Stock Exchange, as we opened the market for the UN’s “Ring the Bell for LGBTIQ+ Equality” initiative to commemorate IDAHOBIT, the International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia. Opening the market were António Simões (Group CEO, Legal & General),
@juha_jarvinen_ (CCO, Virgin Atlantic); and our very own Julia Hoggett (CEO, London Stock Exchange). They were joined by allies Fabrizio Campelli (Head of CIB and Member of the Management Board, Deutsche Bank); and Vathany Vijayaratna (CEO UK & Ireland, Deutsche Bank).
Afterwards, Julia, Juha, and António shared their powerful and personal journeys of leading with pride and purpose, during a special, standing-room-only panel introduced by Fabrizio and closed out by me, and moderated by
@jontilli (Chair, dbPride).
As
@fhoudart , whose brainchild this Ring the Bell project is, reminds us: economic empowerment and financial inclusion matter. They are the most powerful way of serving underserved and vulnerable communities and investing in long-term sustainable growth for everyone.
Special thanks to:
@jontilli , without whom the event would not have been possible, and who has fearlessly and tirelessly collaborated with me on so many bold and exceptional initiatives for inclusion;
@hattpid ;
@the.pippad ;
@arjunnagarkatti and countless others for their leadership and allyship. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
