Here is a gift, a gift for us, a gift for the city. 🌞 My new work Solarpunk celebrates the rhythms of the sun. Using #punking , the lineage of Skinner Releasing Technique and Street Dance my friends and I are helping us ground and get our bodies to be spongy and agile for a chaotic world. 21 and 22 March at sunset (745pm) and it's free. @miki.duh , @trevorjsantos , @hitahhchi , a few surprise people ;) and I have been working hard to help you rest. ☀️ You can't spell resistance without rest. ☀️ Presented by @dancehouse.melb and supported by @cityofmelbourne . MEET YOUR CITY SESSIONS 2026 EMCEES Two iconic voices guiding you through the battles at Fed Square - introducing: 🎤 DEMI - @demisorono Hailing proudly from the Philippines, Demi Sorono a self taught B-girl (breakdancer) and Hip Hop dancer definitely made her mark as one of Australia’s favourite dancers on “So You Think You Can Dance 2008”. When it comes to performing on stage, she is a force to be reckoned with. A devoted mum to her 7 year old son, she still manages to teach around Melbourne along with creating and performing her one woman show “A Touch Of Grace - Shadow Warrior” (Phunktional) at the Melbourne Fringe 2015. Demi is a pocket rocket who exudes an energy that is infectious and a commitment to her craft that can only be described as utterly fearless! 🎤 JONNI - @jonninotjohnny Dr. Jonathan ‘Jonni’ Homsey has a deep passion for the arts, beginning with street dance over twenty years ago in Southern California. Born and raised in Hong Kong and the USA, he has since become a leader in artist-led initiatives across dance, theatre, and the visual arts. Originally from the dance crew scene in the naughties in Southern California, he has worked to abstract the form with contemporary dance tools. His accolades include the 2013 Melbourne Fringe Award for Best Emerging Producer, the 2021 Green Room Award for Best Dance Production for the w*acking film “I Am Maggie,” and the 2024 City of Melbourne Arts & Heritage Collection Resident. He recently completed a doctorate at Queensland University of Technology, where he researched choreographic empowerment strategies focussing on the power of Queer, Black and Brown dances. Stay tuned!
