Posthuman Cartographies | Saturday 17 January, 6pm, Paris Posthuman Cartographies brings together 18 artists for a performance evening exploring a world no longer understood as a fixed human territory, but as a relational, technological, and living field. Rooted in Rosi Braidotti’s affirmative posthuman philosophy, the evening moves beyond both humanist nostalgia and techno-utopian fantasy, opening space for situated, embodied, and imaginative practices. Within this collective landscape, ORLAN’s performance marks a pivotal moment. As Braidotti has observed, ORLAN was exploring bodily transformation long before it became a dominant artistic language — affirming becoming not as optimization, but as a non-functional, non-profitable freedom to transform otherwise. Alongside ORLAN, performances by Romina de Novellis (also Artistic Director of the special evening) and Kreëmart further extend these posthuman cartographies through gestures of relation, care, and transformation. Saturday 17 January, 6pm Free entry with reservation (link in bio) #CartographiesPosthumaines #ORLAN #RominaDeNovellis #kreemart #PerformanceArt #Posthumanism #RosiBraidotti #LeGénérateur #Paris

What a beautiful book from the wonderful @darceybellaarnold 🧡 ‘A Measure of Disorder’ brings together a series of works on paper produced between 2022 and 2024. Presented in a 120-pagelimited edition (250) 30 x 30cm, full-colour on high quality paper in section sewn hardback format, the publication documents a body of drawing-based works that extend Arnold’s ongoing inquiry into language, visual structure, and the disruptions embedded within systems of order. The cover is embossed with black foil printing and hand drawn lines in pencil by Arnold, making each copy unique.   The book includes essays by curator Tim Riley Walsh and artist and curator Brooke Babington. These essays were originally developed in response to Arnold’s two-part exhibition series A Measure of Disorder, held at Gertrude Glasshouse (2022) and ReadingRoom(2023), both in Naarm/Melbourne. Babington’s essay Disordering Measures and Riley Walsh’s If a canvas is feeling and a page is thought situate Arnold’s work within broader conversations around feminist approaches to materiality, language, and repetition.   Designed by Yanni Florence the publication maintains a focus on the material and formal qualities of the work. The drawings—reproduced at scale and in colour—are presented with attention to their spatial and conceptual detail. Limited editions of 250 🥲   @darceybellaarnold @yanniflorence @peter_hatzipavlis @tim.riley.walsh #DarceyBellaArnold #YanniFlorence #AMeasureofDisorder   Film, Yanni Florence 2025, 1min 57sec.

Back again with the tireless collective behind @fopa_info — and @seventhgallery The Festival of Para-Academia returns to @balambalamplace from 12–14 December 2025. I’ve marked a few panels that might genuinely rearrange a thought or two: Brian Massumi on The Para-Institutional Imperative, Erin Manning on Para-Pedagogies of Resistance, Dan Ross & Guy Rundle on The Immense Regression (Ross’ latest translation of Bernard Stiegler) and the Politics of locality, and Jon Roffe & James Culham on Gen AI and imagination – full timetable at the end. This year also introduces a series of free “experiences” running all weekend: prepared piano, visual works by @hitlisttttt , and my friend @spencer.rose.art , among other things – just more theories in disguise tbh 🫰

Happy to share that Seventh Gallery has a new home at 27 Wellington St, Collingwood — on the street level of the Victoria & Vine building. Our first exhibition in the new space, House of Ghosts, is a group show with contributions by Maki Ogawa, Naveed Farro, Devika Bilimoria, Keiran Molaeb, Thang Do, Johanna van der Linden, Alexandra Kumala and Jacob Kotzee — and it also marks our final show of the year. Join us for the opening reception tomorrow evening, 26 November, 6–8PM. The exhibition draws on the idea that the sacred sits alongside us — not above or below — and explores the psychic, spatial and somatic registers of contemporary devotion. The works stay close to the earthly plane, asking how faith and ritual function here, now, in the messy, hybrid, highly mediated present. Great thanks to the City of Yarra, who continues to support Seventh through their Room to Create program by providing us with this space for the next three years — we’re grateful for this ongoing partnership. Seventh Fundraiser! This Friday 20th 🫶🏻 @seventhgallery

This year, Seventh Gallery proudly marks its 25th anniversary. We’re proud of the work that we have done and the community that we have built since 2000, as a non-profit gallery mostly run by artists, for artists. As we reflect on our journey so far and look to the path ahead, we’re organising a celebration next Friday 20 June. We hope this gathering will be an opportunity not only to celebrate but also to reaffirm our shared commitment to artist-run culture. If you’re able to join us, we’d love to see you there. We’re also using this occasion to raise $25,000 to support our ongoing operations. Like many micro arts organisations, we navigate persistent financial precarity. While we recognise that we are not alone in facing these challenges, we continue to do a great deal with limited resources. Our exhibitions, talks, workshops, and professional development opportunities are offered free of charge - part of our broader commitment to accessibility and public value. At a time when cost-of-living pressures and broader systems of inequity are increasingly marginalising creative labour, we believe it is more important than ever to hold space that resists these trends. If you’re in a position to contribute, your support would make a tangible difference. We hope you can come along and participate in our event - an opportunity to connect, experience new work, and contribute to the community of artist-led practice that makes our city’s cultural landscape so distinctive. If you plan to attend, please RSVP via the link in our bio, as this will assist us in planning hospitality and ensuring a welcoming environment for all. Our fundraising auction will launch on the evening of the event and remain open for one week following, allowing time to view and purchase works beyond the night itself. Further details - including program highlights and featured artists - will be shared over the coming fortnight. For the first time, all donations over $2 are tax-deductible. 💸 /seventh-turns-25-art-auction-and-fundraiser #seventhgallery @seventhgallery
